Good Station Suggestions

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew of some good stations I could use in my game. I would like it to be from the UK, but don't really mind how many tracks and even if it's a station kit where you have to build the whole station.

I have seen some great stations on the UK screenshots!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions :D

I'm currently using the Station Platforms series of platforms (varies from Station Platforms 01 130m to Station Platforms 04 210m (for more information, look on vsr.org.uk or the DLS)

They are worth a try, but be aware they are base platforms so you will need to add buildings)

The AJS Station kits may also help.

I have a load of UK station assets on the DLS including lamps, information boards, station buildings, shelters, planters, footbridges and signal boxes. And tonight i'm started to upload a load of platform splines that are compatible with the AJS stations.

Most of the content is from stations in Cornwall for a route i'm building, but some items are found across the country.

That's good news Mark - I was getting fed up with the same old platform !!

Have a look on the DLS for Author = Ray_Whiley. He has some platforms, station buildings and other bits. Domsarto also has a few UK station buildings and loads of other goodies.

There are a good many others scattered about - try a DLS search for "FMA UK" (the words not an author) and also just on the words "Station" and "Platform".

A quick about my platforms mentioned above:

Those numbered 01, 02 etc. have attached, updating track. Those numbered 01x, 02x do not. All have matching surface and brick textures so they can be used together. Also available are similar units of various lengths, including end slopes, which are set up as trackside objects and 'snap' to tracks to give the correct distance between track and platform edge, also matching splines to allow platforms of any length to be constructed. I find that the shorter lengths of the 'trackside objects' platform modules work quite well on curved track of not too sharp a radius. Similar platforms for 24 inch narrow gauge tack are also available.

My Metro stations 03 to 05 might be useful. These have attached track with conductor rail but could be modified in the config file to 'useadjoiningtrack 1' (instead of 0) - they will then update to your choice of track.

I have recently uploaded some 'modern' ie. 1960's BR Modernisation Plan station buildings, both complete and as 9 modules with different door and window configurations which 'snap' to each other to enable any size of station building to be made. To match these, a building base with approach steps at platform height. My earliest station buildings were more suitable for light railways or narrow gauge lines, but the 'W&J' (Wilkinson & Jarvis) buildings are of M&GN rural prototypes with textures (by Saxham Market) from the preserved building at Holt on the Poppy Line (North Norfolk Railway) - formerly at Stalham.

I hope this is helpful. If you have difficulty finding anything, post a reply and I will list the KUIDs.

Finally, I'm currently working on a set of station modules which will consist of platforms, railway buildings, accessories etc. but no landscape or scenery. The idea is that these can be used in any order, with the user adding one or more blank baseboards to separate/link the modules, then add landscape and scenery to choice. Unlike NTrak modules as used by N Gauge modellers, these will not have track at fixed points at baseboard edges but will be placed with a variety of orientations, distance from baseboard edges, etc. so that any linking track across intervening baseboards will be gently curved.
