Foamers don't make it a mission to trespass, but have been known to just to get the perfect shot - And in most cases, what the railroad police consider trespassing is typically not, but they're still being paid to keep unauthorized people away for their own safety, so they'll call the shots when they're roaming their turf.


Don't run around labeling people either. Just because you've seen one person trespass doesn't mean everybody does...

Sadly though, the real foamers have earned their place for being picked on for doing just the things they know they're not supposed to do.

I have seen foamers climb up signals and signal gantries to get the perfect shot.

I've read about foamers getting so "into the railroad" that they get in harm's way by climbing on equipment because they "know" about it. There was an article by Gadfly over on Railroad.net about one foamer that was so into the railroad that he'd go in and operate the dispatcher radio.

Railroad workers hate them for this reason because they can hurt people this way. After all, they know about the workings of a railroad better than anyone else.

Railroad management hate them and definitely won't hire them.

The simple reason is they'll get side-tracked watching that "rare" locomotive or freight car instead of doing their job. Safety seems to be the last thing on their mind.

Well, you can voice your opinion about Union Pacific, but that is just what it is: an opinion. Opinion does not always equal fact. You have the right to your opinion and to voice it, but arguing with others that your beliefs are correct and theirs are not is probably unnecessary, and could lead to dissention.

Well I did voice my opinion and others didn't like it. Which is one of the reasons I might go elsewhere like Rail Works because saying your opinion even in a respectful manner is offensive to certain people and why I got banned because I voice an honest and calm opinion. So what else can I do?

I tried to read through the thread and found some posts becoming more gibberish than anything else. Perhaps it would be kindest just to lock the thread and put an end to it as it seems to have become inordinately heated over something as innocuous as patching.
