Hello Forum Friends,

I have been a member here since December of 2008 and I have many friends who use this forum, many of which I have seen leave for the same reason I am.

I have grown weary of the forum atmosphere these days, it seems to be lacking in quality and "zest".
I feel that too many un-necessary posts have been made, too many request threads being posted and I feel that anyone who says anything constructive about it ends up being "persecuted" for it.
I would like this to be formal and peaceful, but I demand a right to post what needs to be posted, this forum has been flooded with nonsense threads and has become extremely child like in it's atmosphere. Yes, I realize we have young people playing on here, I should know, I am fairly young myself, but this is getting old.

When I joined this forum I had zero internet experience, I acted as a fool and posted stuff that aggravated members with senoirity, and I couldn't understand why, but I learned. They were somewhat hard on me, but I learned, because of those that were "rude", "flammitory" or as I like to say "smart". Now I have improved so much, I act properly on the internet, I am strong and smart, thanks to them.
The people I am talking about right now are the same people who are being treated as "bashers" and are being banned, and warned. They are being stopped from teaching the young members how to act here. Yet time and time again use less posts, 1+ post count posts and other things are being allowed to persist. I am tired of starting a thread and all I get are un-related replies or simple 13 character replies containing nothing constructive.

I feel this forum was a better place a year ago, and if you ask some members who have left, they agree.

I refuse to be said that I am conflicting with any moderator decisions or such, for I am not. I am stating to you and them what I feel like and why I am leaving and hopefully they will start tightening up...for the good...around here.

I still plan to come here to view & post screenshots and view announcements, but I will not be posting in other areas anymore.
The only reason I have choosen to remain in the screenshots forum is because I drove alot of people nuts posting new routes and such, and they are going to be completed!
I wish to finish what I told you I started.

I thank all of you who have been friends to me, but most of all I want to thank those who helped me be a better person on the internet.
Deeelare, Euphod, backyard, Aardvark1, and all of you so called "naysayers", Thank You, I am very thankful.
I imagine this thread will be closed or deleted in due time, but just remember me for the good times.

One last Cheers! To all of YOU!

Woody it is sad to see you go and I do hope you drop in from time to time and let us know how your going.

I also remember your "younger" days here on the forum and yes you DID improve a lot with your post and comments. Congratulations for taking the time to learn and hear what other where trying to say to you, many times it took "reading between the lines" to learn.

Best of Luck.

Craig

This is a sad moment in the Trainz Discussion Forums history......

Woody, you have been a vary active member in this community. The forums have become "uninteresting" due to members who believe that they are better then other Trainzers.

Yes, posts that have reason in them are hard to come by. I can tell you why, is that all the members who have any thinking skills leave. Just like you are, so I guess its one more person less that has thinking skills then what we had before if you leave......

Stay well Woody..... I hope we can stay in contact as you have helped get over some of the most difficult times in my life. As well as me helping with Trainz Magazine and other projects.

Sorry to see you go Woody, but life has an odd way of bringing change. As humanity destroys each other in the real world. We destroy each other in the virtual world...... Stay strong in your thoughts, do not let life bring you down to the point ending your own life. As you are "ending your life" on the forums............

JRT

Dag, I never thought I'd see a Trainzer leave the forums. Man, I'm all choked up with emotion. Good luck and we hope you continue to visit.

I have only been here a few months and although we barely spoke, I felt as though you were going to be here a long time. But I guess we all have to leave at some point. Man, good luck and before you go. Here's an Illinois Central image I found on the net. Think of it as a gift from me to you.

A classic Illinois Central GP10. :(

Woody,
I truly will miss you. Perhaps you wouldn't mind a PM of your e-mail? Why not try meeting up on Trainz Commuter Rail? Not a whole lot of bad requests and nonsense! Hehe. I really want to wish you the best of life. You were my very first friend on these forums. I saw your very bold and meaningful comments, and enjoyed your various projects. I hope we could keep in contact.

Here are life-long words of advice I wish to pass on:

"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but dream, not only plan, but believe." - Anatole France

"People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing." - Dale Carnegie

"Members are on the forums, friends are the forums." - Joshua B. You, are one of those friends.

I will miss you, and please do PM me your e-mail. Have a great life, and a great time. I want to thank you for all the support. I wanted to wish you a happy life, and that you did a great job with Trainz Magazine. I hope you know, I never have left TM, in fact, I submitted an article. It's not gone until we die! ;)

HAVE A GREAT LIFE MATE! WE all will miss you dearly! :Y:

Sincerely,

Joshua B.

Woody: I didn't know you real well but I will miss reading about you on the forum..I want to wish you good sailing in all your endeavors..

Woody
Sorry to see you go, but I can understand. I can remember when you first came to the forum and what a noob that you were, but we were all noobs at one time and you grew out of it very well. I can understand your feelings as I have some of the same feelings about the forum lately. I still drop in often to read threads, but I very seldom post anymore. There just isn't much point to it and the really sad thing is it has really killed my passion for creating. The desire just isn't there.
Best of luck to you.
Mike

You will find your core interest in railroading...

 Hello Woodrow, it's sad to see you buckle-under to the dastards that inhabit the Internet Globally...

I was wondering the other day, did you make your current Central Tennessee Route using the DEM I gave you?

I have well instructed you to leave contrary posts alone...yet you badger something by a banned individual because you thought he so spoke the truth & was banned for it...in your signature?

Visiting obscene impostor Trainz forums can also be something that takes a lot of canceled-subscriptions...as with any other Internet distractions, it can require a lot of self-censure.

I was banned for 30-days, it wasn't as bad as the original forum crash.

Gosh & they made this thread a sticky...

I am disappointed that flamers & trolls get there way all the time...you should see me browse this forum...the dumb-stuff goes by me like water over a ducks back. But we have competent & considerate Auran Forum Moderators that help constantly & rather fast thank you.

But at my age, I continue to help even the 3-post starter, if he posts a thread with a title I can read...

However, at your age, there are many things that can so occupy your time that there may be not a reason why you must stay...everyone must have a balanced life that they can live with.

Fishlipsatwork, JoshEH, 3801, have given us stuff money simply could not buy, but have left because there family-life, occupation, other reasons, cannot allow more than the 24-hours they have to contribute the important stuff that they rendered...that don't mean they won't later return, however we so respect there privacy to encounter the lifestyle they have chosen.

But as long as we are here, heck long after some of us are on that Last Caboose Passing, you will find an interesting thing on the E3V/Auran Trainz Forum Community!

This is the only continuing, progressing, user contributable, train-simulator you'll find anywhere.

Hold on to your core interest in Trainz, only you can find the time to run the wheels off trains like we do.

And when you return, check-out my Chattanooga to Atlanta Norfolk Southern Dream-Incommon.

So Woodrow, "don't let the dastards(evil, mean, sneaking cowards-Webster's Dictionary), get you down."

...see you when you return...Allen/Backyard...

Sadly, we're going to see this a lot more when 04 and 06 get cut off. Needlessly. :o

Isn't it nice to have Great freeware creators pack up shop and stop making things we need? :D

No. :n:

Whaddup Woody?

You were always an interesting fellow here. I don't know where all this negativity is coming from.

So you think the Mods are not tight enough here? Gee, I thought we were supposed to be overmoderating according to some. :) Leave if that's what you want. I only hope you find a better place, and of course you are always welcome back.

Cheers

AJ

I feel this forum was a better place a year ago, and if you ask some members who have left, they agree.
Strangely, at any given point after the first year, there have always been those who felt the forum was better a year ago.

Luckily, Trainz is about the software, not the forum (isn't it?)
.

Sad to see you're leaving Woody.:(
But, I agree...

The forums have been flooded with crap lately, and I'm kind of over it too. Things were better in the past, e.g. if you posted pictures of a route, you'd get replies like 'Oh, looks great mate, maybe you might want to fix ... or maybe add ... to make it much better.' But now, it's (incorrect spelling intended) 'loks grate, wen is it goin 2 b relesed?'

Request threads are annoying, even though I don't make content, I can understand how frustrating it can be for someone to create a brilliant piece of content, completely freeware, whilst trying to juggle Trainz with life, AND have people begging for your content to be released.

This is my opinion, but I reckon that the Australian Screenshots, USA Pics, UK Screenshots and a few other threads are the best. You don't usually get the hurry up from people eager to run your route or content, just a pat on the back, and a bit of feedback if your route needs a bit of T.L.C. (Tender Loving Care).

That just about sums me up, I need to get to bed, got school tomorrow. Once again, sorry to see you're leaving Woody, here's an Illinois Central pic to say goodbye. (copied the idea from PereMarquette1225fan.:hehe: )

ic ,

It is easy for me to understand your position regarding the current Forum content . I am glad you have decided to continue visiting and keep us updated on your projects .
You have indeed taken our criticism and learned :) !
Maybe there is hope for some of the others ?

My thoughts --- ,dave (ps -where is Ed ? )

Hi Woody,

I respect your decision.

Thank you for mentioning me and I hope I did help you.

Good luck, take care, be safe and have fun.

Regards,
Ron

Woody,if your leaving like you said you are, just know that I still have a trainload of respect for you and everyone else on here, and it is sad to see the ride end like this!:(

Gee, I thought we were supposed to be overmoderating according to some.

I think you'll find that at least some of the people who accused you of overmoderating are looking for a FourChan-like utopia of image threads, lolcats, and vicious flame attacks on each other. This is certainly the reason I see mods on other forums being accused of overmoderating.

Also, for many of todays young internet users, there is the belief that postcount, not post content, is important when you are "on teh intarwebz". I don't know VB that well, so I can't remember if there's a way to hide postcount, but I do know that forum sections can be set up so that posting there doesn't increase postcount.

@OP : I barely look at these forums anymore - since the 04/06 End-of-life announcements I have found the forums an uncomfortable place. The sense of community is virtually gone, and one of the few time I see it return is when one of the creators quit/retire from the forums.

Cheers,
[CKT]
