HI

What I am trying to do with GMAX in as follows.

I have created a box and I want to apply the same texture to 5 sides of the box and a different texture to the remaining side.

I am using BMP files for this but cannot figure out how to do it.

If anyone could help with step by step instructions or know where I can get this information on the internet I would be very grateful

Thank You

Kevin

It should be alright if you put both textures in one BMP file and apply it to the box, then select each face in turn and edit it to move the UVWs to that part of the texture. I do this regularly. Please post if you're not sure how to do this.

Did you try the example in the link that johnwhelan gave you? You will find many helpful people here but you have to do your part too. Only if we know what specific instruction didn't work as expected can anyone help you.

That all depends on how close you expect to get to the object which determines how detailed it has to be. If you're still learning how to texture, you might want to practice some more before going to more advanced techniques

Rather than giving detailed instructions here, I'll point you to the tutorial from which I learned what to do!

Search on the internet for "Jyttes Trainz". This will take you to the Trainz Resources Directory (where you will get information on many other tutorials) with links to Jytte's tutorials called "How to make a simple house" (two parts". Download the tutorial, work through it and all your questions will be answered, it's very detailed and easy to follow.

Go to the above section and look for the thread I started. Like you I was having nightmares with texturing but I got a massive amount of help from the forum folk and it's all on that thread.

Well worth a visit, loads of pictures too.
