Hi all,
It's been many a moon since I've tinkered with Trainz, but the recent thread on building Model Railroadz got me fired up to give the latest version a spin. However, I find that after so long that I can no longer navigate Trainz comfortably - so much has changed!
My biggest problem is simply getting a train to move. After over an hour screwing around with the documentation and other help options, I'm literally at a standstill. My train won't move, and I'm unable to change any of the controls (via mouse or keyboard).
I wanted to try 'Quick Drive' instead of the pre-made scenarios, so I entered the Mojave Sub and created a generic consist consisting of 3000' and 500' pre-built sets of cars and added a couple of ATSF C30-7s and an SD45 to the point and a caboose on the rear (FWIW, I could locate any available trains in the default Quick Drive session). Having selected one of the available drivers and assigning him to the train, and also setting the controller to DCC mode (I'm back in newbie status, after all), I then selected the in-cab camera view to get things underway. The manual states that I can use various key commands and also use the DCC throttle, but I'm stumped as to how to actually bring up the DCC controls when in Driver mode. I can hover the mouse over the levers and knobs and highlight what should do what, but neither keys or mouse will move anything.
My apologies if I appear impatient, but after a couple of hours fumbling around with the manual and several forum posts, I'm ready to pull my hair out. I'm stuck in Magunden, and I fear 'dying on the law' waiting for my train to get underway. Any assistance would be much appreciated.
