Hi all, this is my first post on this forum, so for those who haven't heard of me, let me introduce myself. My name is Cactushead, and I am currently building a Mars layout, and having a ball with it. Anyway, I remembered a interesting factoid I got from Trains Magazine sometime back. (If u already no this, u can go do something else, if u want
). Have u ever wondered where the two longs, short and another long for grade crossings came from? Well according to Trains Magazine, it originated with our cousins n merry ol' England. It seems that whenever the Queen was aboard any conveyance, and they approached a junction, they would blow that sequence to warn people to make way for the Queen. Now, u may b wondering what the n the nine rings of hell that sequence has to do with the Queen of England. Easy, look at a chart of the Morse code and look at the letter Q......interesting, huh?
