Fuel for a Diesal Shunter?

I have a small Engine Shed on the Branch Line Route I'm creating at the moment. It houses the Branch pilot which, until now, has been a steam locomotive. But the steam loco has just been joined by one of those new fangled diesel shunters.

My question is, how would the diesel have been fuelled in these early days Diesel power on BR?

Would fuel tanks have been built adjacent to the shed, or would the fuel have been stored in 45 gallon drums and pumped into the loco.....or perhaps straight from a tank wagon?

I'm just looking for opinions on how the prototype would have worked in a similar situation during the 1950's?

Found this in an old book ........

"the headshunt shows the refuelling stand for the loco - fuel is ‘handpumped’ in from the drums."

The faded pic shows an early 08 alongside a small 2 road shed.
