I've noticed a problem with two Fs Gr940 044s that I have that also may affect the whole fleet. First, the regulator flashes green and yellow. I then notice that when I have two of them back to back that the driving rods have problems turning.... then there is the hissing sound.... I also don't know how to refuel my steam engines. can anyone tell me what is going on?

1st problem: That means the driving wheels are slipping.
2. Not sure
3. The safeties blowing? The squealing that happens when the wheels slip?
4. With refueling, there is a built-in Steam loco Refilling Station that loads both coal and water.

Also, with number two, are the wheels moving too fast for the speed of the loco? I had this problem with one of the German tank locos too.

Hope this helps somewhat.

Ok, the safeties were blowing.

I'm not sure the wheels were going too fast.

Also, when looking out for the refilling station, what does it look like?

Hello Steamdemon,

the FS Gr. 940.044 is a very, very old model dating back to UTC that has never been updated by its author. This is the reason of all the troubles you experienced.

At TrainZItalia we never bothered to updated this locomotive since we have released - for our Gold Members - another, much more detailed model of the FS Gr.940 by another author. I am currently updating it to TS2010 standards, but so far - despite the invaluable help of Billegulla's spreadsheets, I have only achieved mixed results. Unfortunately, the upgrade process is much more complex when steam engines are involved :( . Once this work is over, I will gladly release a 2010-compliant version of the 940.044 using the enginespecs and config of the more detailed version.

Cheers

Ok.

Been using two Renfe 044 hydraulic shunters for the mean time. Doesn't need fuel or water and it looks cool as well when back to back. perfect for shunting and very long journeys.
