From Trainz to Ashes

G'day.
I know it's a bit off topic but given Auran's Aussie heritage I can't believe that none of the Trainz whingers have taken the opportunity to draw parallels with the latest Ashes Series. Sledges such as:

"Are Doherty and Bollinger behind the introduction of 'Speedtrees'?"
"Does Ricky Ponting plan his inspirational field placings using Trainz?"
"Are any of the Auran staff up for selection in the third test?"

I for one am very happy with TRS2010 and the Ashes Series but then again I'm not Australian.:hehe:

me i don't like cricket at all ,might as well watch paint dry,or 2 flys on a wall,
its about the same amount of excitement
however boxing
rugby league, for our us friends that without helmets and bulk padding ,any tougher and they would rust,
ufc dont mind it.
but each to there own
regards steve

Don't talk about cricket here

But steve, Union's much better, more free flowing, I'm hooker in my team (I weigh 65kg, and can floor a 6ft tall 16 yer old, and I'm 155cm)

Jamie

how many world class union players have made it crossing over to rugby league??????not many
only joking both are tough games,,without padding and helmets,
this is why we should have codes vs codes at the ends of all code seasons,it would be interesting to see a rugby league side vs union side and both teams keep and play by there codes rules
interesting to say the least,
like a code of origin say five matches, they need to either bring back feeding the scrum in the middle or get rid of the scrum all together no point in having a scrum if its not fair they get the feed there is there advantage in rugby league.
West Tiger were ripped of last year knees in the back of Tikiri, when has a ref not given a penaty foe knees in the back,W Tigers should have been in finale not st george

Yeah, good for you being a Pom, now the shoe is on the other foot. Ponting and his not so merry men cant fight their way out of a wet paper bag. Not even for all the money they are getting paid. Perhaps there is a "Pakistani" connection here somewhere, don't forget at the start of the Ashes series Oz's odds (with bookies) of winning were very high.

You just never know if they were betting against themselves of winning, do you? How else can it be explained that if one of these socalled best of Oz cricketers fails, most of the others in the team do too?

Now, if the "experienced" selectors (mediocre cricketers who failed in their haydays) would place a Sydney Highschool Student C grade cricket team against you, the Poms in the Ashes series, they could not do worst than the current bunch of overpaid, under performing losing mob in the Ashes series. But then again, perhaps these students might give us a surprise, certainly as said, they could not do any worst.

To stay on subject, yes, TS 2010 IS the best Trainz version ever.

Cheers

Like the compromise Aussie rules v Gaelic football. Do you guys pay as much attention to it as we do over here? We got a roasting this year but the games were pretty boring. Not enough biffo. Haha.

Hi Everybody or should I say G.day
How come all these Australians suddenly want to talk about rugby. I thought cricket was the national sport down under. I am also wondering what could have changed that.

Speaking for myself I have little interest in " minor sports" as there is only one real sport in the world and that would be " The Beautiful Game".

In a crowd of 70,000 at old Trafford there is nothing that can compare with watching watching these lads in red trashing the likes of Chelsea, Manchester city, and Arsenal to make you feel that all within the world is great and life is really worth living.

For those of you who cannot for whatever reason appreciate the beautiful game or are unable to receive our wonderful premiership football then I have nothing but sympathy in your plight of having to watch minority sport

May one day your life become richer

Bill:hehe:

Note the location - ^^ Typical Man U fan! :p

I haven't much time for the so-called beautiful game, too many people swearing, arguing and falling over in a heap at the slightest imagined touch.

Absolutely nothing beautiful in that.

Not forgetting also the tedious transfer speculation that is more important than the actual games being played it seems. As for minority sports just remember - just because it's popular doesn't make it good - I'll take X-Factor as my proof of that ...... :D

This made me laugh, it kind of sums up football for me

Cheers all - enjoy your sports whatever they are.

most other countries think they know what Australians are all about ,not all aussies like cricket not all like rugby ,union or soccer however we back our own with a passion, but we don't like cheats ,orbig mouths or setups in sport ,Australia is the most free and peacefull country in the world although we would like to see Anthony Mundine knocked out or fight someone who is a champion ,but i think he has made more money than any other boxer in austalian history over his short time frame using his mouth alone {go woods 8th december }and i do like Arsenal has been the team i have followed since i was a child of 7 years old i am now 50 ,having been a premier league soccer player myself i look at rugby league compeard to soccer and think ,get off the ground you girl you might have been kicked in the shin yet you are more than likely milking it ,haha 11.5 seconds for 100 metres fullbacks couldn't caught me,i was going to try out for Arsenal many years ago but it never came to be,crap happens
we are surrounded by oceans and golden sandy beach.

Hi Everybody.
I believe that the above sums up how it is possible for people who do not follow football to also not realize what it is really all about (and I say that genuinely in no disrespectful way whatsoever to non-football fans)

Yes there is diving in the game along with other player infringements, as well as arguments on the field to go with the cheering, swearing and singing from the terraces that is so much a part of football.

However, that is just it. To be part of all that on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon or perhaps one evening in the week takes you out of yourself and away from all your other cares. It takes you into a world of extreme highs and lows, a world of debate and most of all the comradeship of the terraces.

As a Manu fan it is not always possible for me to get up to Trafford Park or very often I am not even able to get tickets. But then a group of us always gather in our local pub and along with millions of others cheer our gallant lads on from there.

As for the transfer market and all that goes with it again it is just part of the game and the overall entertainment. An example of that was just this week when FIFA announced that the World Cup would go to Russia and then Qatar; it started a worldwide debate amongst football fans and others that took us all away from the weather and financial crisis that is gripping the whole of the Western world. Again football took us out from all those cares gave the news broadcasters something else to talk about and I believe made the world a better place for it.

The above is what makes football different and why more and more people world wide now watch the beautiful game and follow all that goes with it off the field.

To sum up, I never swear in ordinary every day life, but when on the terraces i curse, swear, cheer, sing and find myself chatting and in comraidship with people I have never met before and may never meet again. But that's football, and I love every minute of it.

Martin,

I reckon your OP in itself has put the “whinge-ometer” off the scale by a factor of three. :D

Is this something like "Tally ho, ta ta and pip pip, stiff upperlip chaps" and all that? ~snip~
Damned spiffing performance so far if you ask me!

May I suggest that all UK supporters set the Surveyor birdbath to Adelaide, and turn off Rain for the next 24 hours. All weather controls to be set to neutral please!

Cheers

True and instead of us getting how England are hosting the World Cup rammed down our throats endlessly, now we have to listen to all the consipiracy theories and whining as to why England didn't get it. Also endlessly. The weather is actually far more interesting. Before I get an English backlash, I'm giving off about the media here.

As for supporting teams, I have always, and will always support Alloa Athletic. My local team. I just don't understand how or why people can support a team in another town, let alone another country. Don't think I'm getting at you with that though Bill as I don't know your circumstances.

I like rugby (both codes) soccer, hurling, cricket and Gaelic football before anyone starts harping on about me being anti football.

Anyway, that's got nothing to do with the Ashes or Trainz. My humble apologies.

Very good Casper - I like it!

No problem Bill - you are entitled to like what you like, as I am. I do like to watch the world cups, but care little where they are held.

Club football though is a total snoozefest to me, and when I've attended premier league games I have found the atmosphere to be almost always disappointing. I don't mind the post-match interviews though - the parrotting of stock phrases is often unintentionally comical!!

Anyhow - here's hoping England can finish the job in Adelaide!

It used to be about twenty two guys kicking a football around, now it's all about the money.

I love your posting pfx and no offense taken whatsoever. What I like about football or any sport if it comes that is the passion it creates as anyone can see your posting, although the same could be said about Trainz if you read some of the threads on this forum over the last couple of weeks.

Regarding England not getting the World Cup I can honestly say that I did not expect it to come this way after the 2006 debacle. I believe one of the Premierships best managers (Harry Rednapp) summed it up when he said basically " that if you are not prepared to get down in the dirt and cross people's hands with silver together with offering them a nice girl on the night before the vote, then don't even bother to apply". that may not be his actual words but it is very much what he said.

As regards supporting Manchester United rather than a local club, well here in Somerset we are somewhat sparse on anything that even resembles league football. However, a few of us manu fans do go up to watch Bristol Rovers on Saturdays when we cannot get to old Trafford or manu are not on the Tele. (Keep that quiet as we do not like to admit it)

Bristol Rovers are good family club where the fans still have a big say in its running and it is very much still attached to the local community. Having said that when you are in old Trafford for a big match it hardly feels like you are watching the same sport because of the big match atmosphere, the 78,000 crowd and the reputation and worldwide appeal of the Premier league.

To sum up, I will put my priorities in life as Manchester United, Trainz and then the rest of football in general. Of course I have to put the wife in front of all that as she has just come into the office and can hear what I am dictating.

All the best
Bill:D
