Does any one knows where i can get the same type of Fraps that everyone uses when they upload videos of thier trainz

FRAPS is a program that runs in the background. It captures the screen when running, and saves the video when you stop it.

Run FRAPS, then press the F9 key, that starts the vid, another press of F9 will end the capture.

Then edit the raw video with MS Movie maker to add titles, edit sequences etc.

Have a play round, you will discover all the features.

When happy, open a YouTube account, and upload some vids. Remember not to make them too long, maybe 1 or 2 minutes.

I believe that only the paid version will record video or capture a screen image.
I am using the free version, which only displays frame rate, etc.

Hi all,

Not strictly true. The demo version will record video but only in 15 second clips. This is about enough though because you can string a couple of clips together to make a longer video

If you read the fraps homepage... you see that you can film 30 second clips and as adadadl said, you can stirng them together with Microsoft Movie Maker or somthing else. I myself have Vegas Movie Studio 9.0.

And just watch any professionally made TV program or film and see how long the shots last - 30 seconds is an eternity..........

Incidentally, the free version of FRAPs will take screenshots, but it will only save them in uncompressed .BMP format (Windows Paint format). If you want to upload them to a website you'll have to compress them into .JPG or a similar format - any graphic manipulation program like the GIMP should be able to do it.

Also, I found the latest version of FRAPs will only work (i.e. take screenshots/video) when running Direct X 10 - if you happen to only have Direct X 9 on your system (like yours truly), you'll need to find a slightly earlier version of FRAPs for it to work (or else upgrade Direct X to 10).
