FPS

How does one find out how many FPS his game is running at? I'm not very computer savvy and I don't know where to find this info.

Connel,

You can run trainz in windowed mode which will show framerares but may also affect performance. Many people download an application called FRAPS which will video record screens bu also shows framerates, there are free and paid versions. Also trainz has a log file which gives frame 'averages',

A warning regarding FRAPS - I have found that having any video-capturing tools running at the same time as Trainz will adversely affect framerates, due to the way they operate.

Hi ccowan2126,

Open my computer and navigate to your Trianz folder. In your trainz folder there will be a file named jetlog.txt, open this file and scroll down to the bottom, there you will see an entry like this " ? 9:57.5 : TrainzLogEnd> Averaged 55.258437fps over 485.518616sec " That is your average frame rate and the total time you have run the last session. The jetlog.txt file is re-written every time you run Trainz.

Cheers,

Haven't noticed any difference with Fraps turned on or off. Now I am talking about just monitoring FPS, which is all I use Fraps for.

For monitoring FPS, it may not be too bad, but watch out if you use it for recording video, as it will affect framerates.
