Forum Problems

I've noticed that when posting recently that there seems to be a slow down. I've noticed that it's almost like something is running in the background that slows down all functions of he forum. I have to type slower because key strokes are being missed. I've also noticed that when saving the post I get an error message saying that my post is not long enough, this in turn is forcing me to rewrite my post...multiple times. This seems to be the only place that this is happening at...so far. The only change I've done to my computer is install intent explorer 11.

Anybody else having similar problems?

Internet Explorer 11 has been attributed to a few issues on these forums, including editing problems. I would suggest trying a different browser if you can.

How does one get rid of IE 11? I tried to run the application for IE10 and it tell me that it is already installed.

Firstly check under Programs and Features > Installed Updates. If it's there you should be able to remove it from there by right-clicking it and clicking Uninstall.

Had exactly the same problems with IE11 (which installed itself by automatic update). Missing characters, failure to create a new line of text when pressing the Enter key, various other anomalies. I rolled back to IE10 by uninstalling IE11 (somehow it keeps previous versions, so you don't necessarily need to do a System Restore). However, this did not fix the problems with missing characters etc, and in the process changed some 'internet options' such that I could no longer access my main internet banking site (would not allow me to enter account number or password). After wasting an entire weekend, I was able to at least fix that by unchecking the 'Use TLS 1.2' box under 'advanced' properties, but the missing character etc problems are still present. The only way I can get this forum to behave is to switch to 'Source mode' (the first icon in the toolbar that also has icons for Bold, Italic etc fonts).

Force of habit makes me want to persist with IE, but when I run into this sort of nonsense, I resort to Chrome which has none of the above problems.

Sites that are not compatible with IE 11 can be fixed by accessing the site in compatibility mode - Tools / Compatibility View Settings / Add this site.

The native version of IE 11, the one that ships with Windows 8.1, doesn't have these problems. You should report this to Microsoft, and yes you can do this through their tech forums. I'm sure if enough people report it, or have already, there will be a patch for it, or a Fix IT! available.

I tried rolling back but the previous version didn't work right, so I ended up reinstalling IE11 and change the settings as BuilderBob recommended. At this point it does seem to work.

Hmm, had the same problem with IE11 on Windows 7 so I switched to Firefox 25.0.1
It's sad because IE11 runs blazingly fast, but it screws the editor on vBulletin sites.

Sadly that's not always true. I tried it and it did not solve my 'bank site access' issues. That was only resolved by unchecking the 'use TLS 1.2' security protocol. And I don't think it fixed my issues with the vBulletin forum behaviour either.

Well, this is typed with IE11 again after using Bob's suggestion and it seems to have done the trick. :hehe:
Typing with strange loss of characters and the failure creating links to other sites seems to be resolved with this action.
All advanced settings in Internet options are the default, I've only added SSL 2.0 as well, I believe.

There will always be some sites that are so poorly constructed they can't be fixed, but your problem with the bank was probably due to the IE11 install changing some settings from the existing values - I have not been able to find a list of what it changes, but I have seen other reports similar to yours, and I think the adjustment needed is just setting things back to how they were.
