"Foolish" quick question

I've been running trs 2006 since it came out. I got out of it for a while when I moved to Montana. My question is, what keys do I push to create a screenshot? I used to do it all the time but have forgotten. Its been a few years.

In TRS2006 the PrtSc image is a TGA, which needs to be converted to a jpg image using free Irfanview.

If you are running Trainz windowed you can use the MS Snipping Tool in your PC Accesories as it saves a jpg to your PC pictures file.

Haha!! You guys are funny! I tried the "only" and tried a combonation of the N & E keys and they didn't work either lol :p

I went into Trainz, loaded a route, placed the loco, pressed prtsc, looked in screenshots... and nothing. I found some that I had (somehow) taken a while back but have no clue what key(s) I pressed. I'll try it again and see what I come up with.

I always drop my screenshots into MS Paint.

However, in my Trainz version file folder the images are saved as .tga files, which MS Paint doesn’t read.

I did find a way around it though.

Try going into the very first Trainz menu (which only shows when you first open the game each time). Select Configure Trainz>Display Settings> and change from OpenGL to DirectX.

That solved the black screen problem for me (and at the same time solved another problem with some strange effects on the water tiles).

A single press of the PrintScreen key stores the image on the PCs clipboard which can then be pasted into MS Paint as a jpeg.

You’ll need to clear out the .tga files every so often to save cluttering up your hard drive. Mine had been lying there for two years when I finally twigged. I then cleared out 5GB of duplicate files! I now have a desktop icon link to that Trainz file store and try to remember to clear it out weekly.

If you are running Win7 or Vista, it could be a file permissions issue, where the user you are running Trainz as does not have write permissions to the TRS2006 folder.

Thats a really good idea! I'll have to try that too.
Still can't get a screenshot. I searched in the pc and nothing. I'm not sure whats going on here. I used to be able to post them all the time. Seems like everything went downhill, actually off a cliff, once I got Windows7.

Thanks. I have it set to Run as Administrator. I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

First of all download free Irfanview & Plugins, and click all Associate All Plug In's. http://www.irfanview.com/

When downloading from a place, be careful, they try to get you to download scans, unrelated programs, and other toolbars, that you do not need, do not leave box's ticked, or you will get all he junk they offer.

Irfanview reads TGA's, and is an indespencible photo manipulation tool !!!!

I can tutor you on how to operate Irfanview "batch conversion" process to make a TGA, into a Jpg.

Or how to run Trainz "windowed" so that you can use the MS Snipping Tool.
