First reviews of the GTX 1070 out now...

The Holidays are fast approaching, good idea to get them out and shaken down a bit. If they are ready to go, why not? I plan on having a new machine built around Christmas time, and I doubt one of these will be in my budget and be overkill even if it were, I'm sure there will be super geeks who will put them on their Christmas lists.

clam1952 - Hmm wonder why Nvidia are rushing to get these out?
Probably because they can - and it really turns the screws up on AMD just when it seems they have got their act together at last with their Polaris and Vega architectures.

Part of this must be NVidia's new fully-robotic manufacturing processes - these GPUs are largely untouched by human hands during their manufacture, resulting in cleaner, faster and more reliable output, with faster establishment of new production lines.
I'd also venture the opinion that it's because they decided not to wait for HBM 2 to be available in sufficient supply to fit into the Titan X, kitting it out with 12Gb of fast DDR5X instead.
Bodes well for the early appearance of the GTX 1080Ti as well...
