This is intentional. You must think in terms of Russian practicality - a train speeds along the tracks and hits a cow. It flies up in to the air and over the locomotive. When it drops in a hopper car behind the loco - wouala! A nice, cooked dinner for 2 families! And it's a nice way to speed up global warming so to not have cold winters. AND it terrifies any potential invading forces when seen by military satellites!

In Soviet Russia, Train fires itself! :hehe: seriously though, was that a locomotive or a metal volcano? It was certainly throwing smoke and sparks like a volcano at points...
