Try renaming the file file.cdp

May I ask how you have tried to install the file in Trainz? As I have been reading on the forums lately, you should not double click a .cdp file to install. A file that can look like .cdp file may have a nasty surprise.( I have not has any yet Knocks on wood)
A better way to install would be to open CMP,Click file- install cdp's.
If you did double click on the file and it tried open in adobe than you computer has the .cdp file extension set to open in adobe.
This utility may be able to help you out. I have not used it so I cannot say yes or no.

I just downloaded the UP Heritage pack as well. I used the CMP method to install the .cdp's, and I had no problems.

You are correct regarding the utility side - it's one of mine, and I always make sure my utilities work (and if for some reason it does not work first time, I keep at it until it does)...

Meanwhile, I'm also a bit baffled on how a .cdp file could end up opening in Adobe as well.

Hmm, I think Adobe sees the *. cdp extension as a Corel Draw project file. I can be mistaken of course, it's been a long time since I used that program. :hehe:

Is it called a filename.pdf ??????

Right click on it and select open with. Then select cmp in your trainz folder. Also tick the small box which asks if you want that programme to always open this type of file.

Here is the file as named from simulator central: UP Heritage Pack.rar (90.7 MB) from s3.amazonaws.com? After i Dl it into my downloads file it shows up as an adobe file UP Heritage Pack.rar
Still looking for solutions. Thanks.

What i'm puzzled about is why this file downloads as an adobe file from simulator central in the first place? My other purchases from simulator central DL as zip files which i have no problem extracting into TS12. Why is this file being a pain in the butt? Thanks & Frustrated. Alco_P-A

Dunno what to tell you other than one friend I have insists on using WinRar to package all his files, I use WinZip because (1) it's industry standard, been around since the old PKzip back in the days of DOS and dinosaurs so everyone has something that will open a zip file, and (2) it has a built in CRC Checksum so you don't get as many corrupted and truncated files. WinRar compresses the files tighter than WinZip, but I don't think it's worth the tradeoff.

Download the free version of WinRar, use that to extract the files from the .rar, and you should find .cdp files inside.
