I have updated most of Kevin Martins 2ft Ffestiniog engines (with his permission) to be 2009/2010 compliant. These can be downloaded from Sirgibbys’ site at trainzone.co.nz. I will have the rolling stock updated soon and will upload them to Trainzone. Watch this space.

Now he tells me :hehe:, I did them all around 8 months ago. Funnily enough this was mentioned yesterday in connection with this thread. ;) http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?p=610574#post610574. To be honest I was thinking of asking Kevin myself however as I'm relatively new at this game I'm glad you did it.

Good job, thanks for doing that.:)

This is looking like a great route, Malc.

Guess where I'm going on holiday this year...:)

Just want to add my thanks for updating them.
I never got around to sorting them out, so this is great news.

Downloading them now!
Thanks again.

Seeing that some of my models were being converted to 2010 and looking at the great pictures of Clam1952's Ffestiniog & WHR route got me thinking that it was time i got hold of a copy of 2010.

Having played with it for a while, I've decided to have a go at making model specifically for 2010. I've gone for Britomart, as I have a decently detailed model already available :-

This is a new model and not the same as the one currently available from Trainzone.

It's still very much WIP, but think I'm making a bit of progress with it. :)

Cheers,
Kevin

Good to see you around here again Kev.
How's things?

Did you ever start/finish that Ffestiniog route?
I'm pretty sure I remember you saying that you were working on an MSTS version and would maybe do a TRS version.

Looking forward to that new model.
And don't be a stranger here.

Lovely to see you back again Kev. I hope you have got rid of Vista so that there are no more disasters!

Holds out begging bowl :) Any chance of the 20hp Simplex any time in the future?

Things aren't too bad, thanks.

We did manage to finish the MSTS version of the Ffestiniog. I say we, but a chap called Colin Tucker did all the actual route building and I just supplied the custom buildings and rolling stock.

I did make a start on a TRS version and completed the Porthmadog to Boston Lodge section. I seemed to lose "steam" after that and I think the actual thought of redoing all the Ffestiniog, after being involved in the MSTS version, was a bit too much!

Cheers,

Kevin

Hi John,

I finally managed to almost tame Vista (after a couple of MS service packs) and I'm stilll using it.

We'll have to see about the simplex. I hate to make promises on stock as I find I'm not always keeping them, these days. Will have to see how I get on with Britomart!

Cheers,
Kevin

Wow. It seems that more and more people prefer to remake the Ffestiniog Railway more than anything else.

BTW Kevin, if that's meant to be Britomart in TS2010, how come it looks more like it's in TRS2006? Just out of curiosity.

Think I can answer that one...
If you had 2010 you would spot why, it's native mode with old style trees, can tell by the cross hatching effect on the Alpha blending, they look better in compatibility mode.

My excuse for the Ffestiniog? well I was a member of the Ffestiniog Railway Society back in 1960's when I was still at school so there was an interest there to start with.

Nice to see Kevin back as well, without his excellent models I would have never started the Welsh Highland Ffestiniog venture. :)

Thanks for the comments.

The pictures posted were taken in 2010 using native mode. Although, the trees may look a little strange in screenshots, I do quite like the effect and tend to run in this mode.

Cheers,

Kevin

When are you planning to release it (if ever)? I'm thinking of trying it out in '04 and '06 (if possible).

I'm afraid I have to say "When it's ready" ;)

I'm not putting myself under any pressure and will work on it when I can.

Not sure if it will work in 2006. I think it will depend on what sound setup I decide to use in the end.

Talk of my old ffestiniog route has caused me to hunt down the few screenshots of it, that survive.

As can be seen, not much progress was ever made (and the progress made, wasn't brilliant!). Think it may have been made in Ultimate Trainz, so that dates how long ago it was!!!
