Hi
If I buy a FCT and register a new copy of Trainz 2006 (these are still available out there!!!) - will I have DLS access to Trainz 2004 content as well.
Many thanks for your help.
Cheers

Welcome to the forums.

If information that N3V have stated is correct, you will need at least TS2009 in order to use a First Class Ticket. I'm happy to be corrected though if that's not the case.

I heard that if you only have TRS2004, or TRS2006 ... if you buy a FCT ... you can download at high speeds ... but when your FCT runs out, you will not be able to download at all, even on the free server, at slow speeds.

If You buy 09 or higher version of Trainz, and you do not have a FCT, you can download at slow speeds, in TRS2004, TRS2006, on the free server.

Correct me if I am wrong.

The reason I still use TRS2006, is because laying track, in surveyor, is easy, with no layers ... and a 04, 06 route can be installed into 09, 10, 12 Trainz versions later on.

Thanks for your welcome Shane.
Cascaderailroad - You are right re the FCT access only whilst valid - but do you know whether I will be able to access 2004 content on a 2006 only registration or do I have to have both versions registered?
Cheers

A FCT is good for any, and all, versions of Trainz.

If you have 06 ... you can use 06, 04, or lower, assets ... but higher versions assets need fixing in order to show up in 04, 06.

With a asset that has a config file trainzbuild line that is higher than your version, requires backdating, and usually manual fixing of all the assets dependencies as well ... this is why TRS2004 & TRS2006 are a total PITA, as you will be fixing thousands of assets, and thousands of dependencies, just to get some of them working in TRS2004 & TRS2006, and some assets will only work partially, and some not at all without tedious manual fixing.

Most assets are now updated to at least TS09 trainzbuild of 2.7 ... which will not show in 04 & 06 without tedious manual fixing.

You can still have much fun with 04 & 06, but higher builds like TS10 and TS12 are recommended.

Ah - I'm not too sure about that - I thought that you only had access to the version you registered - not a higher version - but I'm not sure if you can access a lower version.

Some assets require fixing the loco config file, and 15 dependencies config files ... just to get one loco working ...in short TRS 04, 06 will make you go blind, manually fixing thousands of assets config files, and make you pull your hair out !

Hi Guys
Cascaderailroad - I appreciate your replies. Thanks.
Shane - I thought this was the case - but wasn't sure. I can get a FCT for 2006 so looks like I will be able to access 2004 content as well.
Cheers

Yes, in TRS2006 you can access, and use 06 assets, and all other lower versions of trainz assets ... buying a FCT is all but mandatory in TRS 04 & 06, as well as in UTC ... and, or buying a higher version of Trainz, and registering the 06 version, as well as registering the higher version.

You have to register your version of Trainz at Planet Auran, if it is not a valid serial number, previously pre-registered by someone else's E-Mail address, UN or PW, or is a warez copy ... a FCT will not be usable until you register your Trainz.

You can still find new in box, never registered 04, 06, UTC, disc's on EBay and other sites for @ $15 ... let the buyer beware, though of unscrupulous sellers

If you have a fast PC CPU speed, and a video card, TS10 and TS12 are highly recommended over that of lower versions of Trainz.

You can find special sales on TS10 and TS12, as they are inexpensive.

UTC, 04 & 06 may run on extremely low end, integrated graphics, PC's, but may have poor framerates.

Yes - I think 2006 will run like a dream on my machine - running 32 bit XP - have already run a demo and it is silky smooth. I am replicating a model railway, not 'real-life' and of all the versions 2006 seems to pull this off the best. Surveyor looks like a dream to work with - there is still tons of UK content out there for 2004 / 6 - so I should have more than enough to get on with!!
Cheers
