Hi all. With out trying to sound too ''dumb''. Every time i load a session or route from DS i get missing dependencies or faulty!!!!! I try to load them in but i have no clue.LOL

Any help in simple terms would be so appreciated.

Thanks, Steve

Hi,

1) check the route/session is compatible with the version of Trainz you are using...
Use this table:-http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/"Trainz-build"_number

2) Using content manager, you can add a column to the search, then either sort on the build number, or use a custom filter in the search.

3) Many routes/sessions will call for assets created by different people and different times. Sometimes there's an old asset which was OK when created, but Trainz standards have moved on, and the asset doesn't match the newer rules. Very often, the system simply flags the asset as faulty and give a "warning". That won't stop the asset from loading or displaying, just gives you the hint it needs updating!

4) Some assets disappear from the DLS - I've just found 4 missing assets from the TS19 Cornish mainline - mostly these won't stop the route/session from working.

5) if you use content manager, set the filter for "Installed", then the next line for "route" (or session), then the 3rd line use the pull down menu for "faulty assets recursively"

5a) now click on the "location" column header and the list will be sorted so you can see the unknown and faulty assets as a group. You can then highlight them and try "download" again. Alternatively, check out the author's name and see if the DLS has a similar asset (sometimes the KUID is not updated).

To add, after adding the helpful additional headers to the manage content column headers.
If a lot of problems a full database repair may solve some, it may not but worth a try, that's hold down Ctrl while clicking Developer > Rebuild Database. Takes a lot longer than the normal DBR but is more effective at sorting out problems.

Some missing dependencies options, no particular order:
1: Look for updates by selecting Out of Date in the search Filter, download anything that is showing as modified Newer Version available or DLS Newer Version available, builtins and payware are slightly different in that you need to right click > Show Asset Versions, then download the latest version from the list that opens, click the status header to sort so you can find the one to download. You can find newer versions with a different kuid that obsoletes the version thats missing that way as well.
2: Try downloading the item again with the missing dependencies again, sometimes works!
3: Right Click on the item, list dependencies, you can click the status column header to sort, may find some that way as available for download, or maybe location unknown, sometimes right click, download this version will find them.
4. Might be from a third party site and not on the DLS, all you can do is either use Google to search or forum search which to be honest is not very efficient, may find something by searching on the route name.
5. There is the Trainzkuidindex, which you can find many things not on the DLS with, however it is a subscription service and to be honest the few times I've used it you, can get dead or dodgy sites so be careful when using it. I stopped using it as I very rarely use anything that isn't on the DLS other than from known reliable creators, so haven't needed to go on a kuid hunt. https://www.trainzkuidindex.com/
