Faulty Portals

I have a route that is fed by four portals that emit trains as instructed by the Central Portal Controller.

This system works very well but after a few months of fault free performance it always starts going wrong.

It is as if the Portals wear out; they get more and more reluctant to emit trains and sometimes mess up the schedules. They also do not consume trains properly, the trains vanish but the drivers remain in Driver.

Is this just another of Trainz amusing quirks that I will just have to get used to or is there a cure (short of replacing the portals and re-programming Central Portal Control)
Regards Chris

Trainz 2006, latest up grade; Vista Home Premium, Intel E8500, 4GB ram, geforce 9800GT. 750GB Hard drive. all drivers up to date.

I may be off track here but do you alter anything in surveyor then restart a session. If a track mark is deleted and replaced it will need to be re-entered in the commands even if it's the same name. Same for anything, signal, trigger etc.
Doesn't take much, AI is looking for the old one.

Thanks for your reply but no, I have learned to very careful about changing or deleting track marks and so on.

Even if you delete an object and recreate it with the same name, A1 does not see it as the same. You have to be careful to replace every occurrence of the item in the session.

No, the problem is with the portals themselves not emitting and receiving trains as they should.

Try defragging the drive with trainz on. Sounds like a files/folders problem. Content manager may say they are fault free but the content may have degenerated/split, defragging should pull them back together. Then they may work correctly.
