Extreme cleaning of map

I was wondering if it is possible to change the config file of a route in a way that all items and textures are removed from the map and you end up with an entirely empty map. If it is possible I would be very happy to hear how. Otherwise I will need to do a lot of copy-pasting cleaning up the mess.
 
It's possible to eliminate textures by using a tool available through the DLS (IIRC) called "erazor", but it's not possible to do what you want by changing the config.txt file.

If you are using TRS04 TrainzObjectz can be used to remove objects and splines, afaik no way to do the same in later versions...

It's not the config file. The important references to ground textures, all sorts of assets and all sorts of splines would be in the .gnd, .obs and .trk files. You could substitute the .obs and .trk files with empty ones and you could erase the ground textures one by one or by list (the latter will be an option for upcoming TransDM 2.0) but water, rulers and weather would remain in place. That's all in the .gnd file.

Another one of these occasions when I can,t see the wood for the trees.

Could someone explain why you would need to eraze ALL ITEMS AND TEXTURES. What do you do with the resultant map?

Thank you very much. That is the info I was looking for. Better yet ... I think I might wait for TransDEM 2.0 instead :)

I don't mean to speak for baureihe41, but in my case, I once had a map where I really liked the shape of the landscape I'd created, but came to be much, much less than satisfied about the texturing and object placement. What saved me from asking the same question was that I decided I also wanted the route rotated 90 degrees. Since this is not possible in TRZ, I had to start over.

This is just a shot in the dark... wouldn't you be able to get rid of everything by:
  • Opening up CMP
  • Selecting the map
  • Bringing up it's dependencies
  • Selecting them all and using the view in main list option
  • Disabling them
  • Heading back to the map in Trainz
  • Using the remove missing assets option
  • Then going back into CMP and re-enabling the content?

Disabling them wouldn't work - disabling just removes them from the menus, but the assets will still be loaded if called by a route.

What would work though is viewing the route's dependencies in the main list then opening them all for edit. Copy the edit folder somewhere safe then delete the edit folder content. That would load a 'blank' map which could then have the 'remove missing assets' option exercised.

Then re-import the contents of the copied 'Edit' folder...

Worked like a charm. I now have a bare-boned Settle&Carlisle map to play with :D
