Hi,
I am wondering if it is possible to save my maps that I have built, onto a USB Drive or CD as my computer is on the blink and I need a new one, I am wondering if I can save my maps and install them on the new install.

Thanks Guys

Brenden,

You can easily save ALL your content to an external drive. For Trainz a rather large external hard drive is the best. You can get a Seagate GO-Flex for under $100 (both US and Australian dollars).

All you do is go to the install where you installed Trainz TS12:

Open My Computer
Open up the folder where Trainz is located such as C:\Program Files (x86)\Auran\TS12 (this is an example).

Copy the UserData folder to your external drive.

Let the copying do its thing. There is a lot of data here.

When done, you'll have a complete backup of all your content, both built-in, custom, and downloaded.

-------

When it comes time to reinstall, do the normal install plus patches, and any database repairs as required (Updating database).

Now go to the External drive.
Copy the Userdata folder
Go to where you installed Trainz
Overwrite the Userdata folder where you installed Trainz

Let the copying do its thing...

When done. Start Content Manager
Do a Database repair.

Let this finish, and you'll be all set.

-------

The alternative to copying and pasting the Userdata folder back into your Trainz install is to Import the content. This is done through Content Manager. Just click on Skip All when it comes to the built-in content.

Hope this helps,

John
