export from Sketchup into blender or Gmax, but errors on export!

Hi all i decided to create my own route using my own models I created in Sketchup, but about 6 months on Ive decided why go to the trouble if the models end up looking poor and don't have any night lights, so to save the work i have already done (not to mention the last 6 months), I followed the tutorials to import sketchup files into both blender and gmax but when I try to export the models from either Blender or Gmax I get errors. My goal is to take my textured models from skecthup & put them into gmax or blender
so i can adjust the texture options and most importantly add lights

Gmax Error:
After importing the 3ds file into Gmax and not touching the model (just to test whether it would export), i successfully export the model. Instead of a folder full of Materi15.texture (for example) files i get ateri03.texture or a mixture of both accompanying the .IM file. These ateri03.texture files point to a texture that doesn't exist. Now when I import the model in to the content management & open the model in content creation plus i get the error texture could not be loaded, the same texture that doesn't exist.

Blender Error:
When I try to export a model directly imported from skecthup and without touching the model (again just to test that it will export) i get "errors during data collection, export aborted"

Have i missed something or has someone else had these problems and over come them any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

Well, if it were me, what I'd plan to do is convert the mesh, and retexture it after you've converted it from sketchup to blender.

Gmax Error:

The GMax error is common to a number of imported mesh files. You should either rename your original images with a new leading character (_Material03 for instance) so that after the first character is stripped off the name is correct, or you rename you texture files to match what GMax has done to the names.
