What are you looking at?
I'd like to suggest you use his heavy 4-4-0 as the basis for the reskin, since it's more similar to the real 999.

so what did everyone think of mine?
I thought about that, but the heavy 4-4-0 is already weathered, and I like to start with as clean an original as possible...just my preference.![]()

Yes. It's a reskin of Ben Neal's modern 4-4-0...something I've been playing with the last few days. I've started a project to expand the NYC steam roster so #999 seemed like a good choice for a 4-4-0 reskin...plus I wanted to try my hand at reproducing the metallic silver script on the tender. After setting the world speed record of 112.5 mph on May 10, 1893 and going on a promotional tour for New York Central, she entered regular service on the Water Level Route. Her 86" drivers were replaced with smaller ones for more starting power and she lost much of her finery. Steam fans will note a number of differences between this model and the actual 999 but what the heck...
Thanks,
Fred

Otherwise, I've been meaning to built 999 for a while. It looks simple, and I want to make another 24hr start to release engine. Of course, I need some free time for that.
Cheers,
Ben
