Emergency braking

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to alter the 2 minute time period allotted to the Emergency braking? I run a lot of Dash 9's and they're not too good at stopping. (Well that's good physics, eh?) They often just pass a red signal. They then have to wait a full 2 minutes before they can restart. Can this be adjusted? Even if you use the Stop Train command, it still takes 2 minutes for the DCC controls to show up.
Thanks for your help

This has been talked about before, and I don't think there is a way to change the 2 minute wait. You can stop locos from SPADding (passing red signals) by changing the MaxDecel value in the enginespec. However they then seem to stop in a rather unrealistic way.

Search the DLS for an item called 'AI Brake'.

It's an invisible loco with adjusted physics for braking.

Saves you messing about with other loco configs.

Place it behind your loco and it helps them stop better.

Neil,

To your specific question, in DCC mode it appears you can use the command "A" at least in 2006 you can. It's the handbrake command and designed to be used to set the handbrakes on consists before you uncouple from them so the consist won't roll etc. However by mistake one time I hit the A key while running and my train stopped immediately. It took me a minute to understand what had just happened. In this instance at least there wasn't any delay in restarting.

It's not the least bit realistic of course but if that's not a consideration then it's something you might try. Otherwise what I've read about AE Brake and per Dennis' suggestion I would try it.
