Apologies if this has been asked before or covered in other threads, but I can't find anything online and I feel I'm going around in circles!
I have a track layout as below, where a double line converges to single. I've added the (semaphore) signals in that protect the junction and there is also a small trailing siding.
Distant=======Outer Home=======\(siding)======Home======---------------------
My query is this; when approaching the junction on the double track and the junction is set against me, the distant signal will be 'on' and both the outer home and inner home will also be on. The outer home doesn't clear until I am around 30m away and then it clears, saying 'line ahead is clear for one block'. Needless to say, this is rather irritating as you practically slow to a halt and then have to get the train moving again only to stop at the inner home. My understanding is that, in real life, the distant would be 'on' and, assuming the siding junction is set for my path, the outer home will be 'off' and the inner home will be 'on'.
Is there a way to replicate this in Trainz? I've tried adding interlocking but I can't seem to get my head around it. The only workaround I've found so far is to place an invisible signal just before the inner home but then this in turn triggers the distant to return to 'off' when in fact it should be 'on'. Hopefully this makes some sense - you can probably see why I'm going giddy with signals and interlocking!
Cheers,
PLP
