ECML Kings Cross York 2010 EE Help!

Howdy all,
Ok for starters, here's what I'm running.....Win7..64 Bit..AMD ATHLON II X 2..215 Processor..ATI Radeon 4600 Series..3 GIGs of RAM...Now this is on one computer. I also have Trainz 2010 EE on another computer, with 2 GIGs of ram but an even higher number on the ATI graphics card.

So now here's my problem. First of all, when I try to bring up the Kings cross York route, it takes approx 5 min. to boot up. Man the whole program goes crazy! Then when it finally boots up, it don't seam to be too bad. Now this is in surveyor mode. So moving right along here, when I try to edit and or delete anything on the route, this works fine. But when I try to save the changes, that route will stop both computers dead in their tracks. I have to control..alt..delete and restart the task manager. Then to find out that the program is not responding. ( As I said, dead in it's tracks!). I've tried everything I can think of. I even went along and pushed everything down to it's lowest in the options panel. IE draw distance, spline rotation and whatnot. And it still stops running. Now I'm not talkin about a bunch of edits. I even tried to delete one lil ol tree and do a save. Still dumps on me.

I've done a search on this problem on here and can't find a thing about it. By the way, all the other routes work just fine, even with the draw distance etc all the way up. Funny thing is, I haven't been in that route for a spell, until today. But I do remember when I was in it a few months ago, that route would crash on me. But, I did manage to save a customized route from it. But even the route I saved, still stops the program. I know there's alot on that route and I did read someplace that if you have a bunch on a built route, that it will bring the meanest computer to it's knees.
So here I am, on my knees:eek: Any suggestions?? Thanx in advance.

Doug

You could try looking at the route in your Content Manager, and check that there are no missing or faulty dependencies. Just an idea.

Well the ECML is a big route - at a guess 400 miles and 4500 assets, so it will take a long time to save. Make sure you give your PC chance to complete the task.

Also try making a clone of the route in CMP first, and then edit and save the clone instead.

I'm working on an 80 mile route, just a fraction the size of ECML and only about 0.5 % complete. It takes a 3 or 4 minutes to save this so ECML will take a while. I tried opening ECML in driver and even that takes a couple of minutes. It's a massive route so requires a little patience.

That said, I have a persistant save issue whereby a window with Taddaemon.exe appears with a shocking looking icon, and Trainz itself shows as not responding in task manager. This normally only occurs on the first instance I try a save and I have no idea why. I've had a ticket into the help desk for at least a month now and I'm still awaiting a response.

Not sure if this matches your problem at all.

If I drive on the ECML and I want to save the session, I leave it for about 20 minutes then ctrl-alt-delete and end task. When I go back into trainz it shows the driver session has been saved, and all works fine. Possibly just a matter of patience.

You're lucky you haven't corrupted your Trainz install. You should wait until the program closes before doing anything else. Saving a session or route can take a long time if the route is very big.

When exiting Trainz, you want to ensure that the program has shutdown properly. Click on the developer tools tab in options, and check show database processes.

This will bring up a command prompt with the status of the database access. When this closes, it's safe to exit trainz.

To all you fellers and your patience. Well I'm here to tell ya, you're all right and my bad. I discovered that, when trying to save it? Well it does and like y'all said "Paitence", is what I've always been lacking. Ya learn something new every day. What was totally bothering me was, the program was shutting down. But to my discovery, it starts back up, then after around 3 min. it does save it and I'm on my way. Much obliged for y'alls help and thank you for the very quick replys. What I've been doing is, deleting just about everything that spins, except the tracks. Seems there's approx. 3000 houses along with the hedges and shrubs, that have spline points. By deleting a great deal of these, the route is starting to run and save faster. I've went from 3 min to save, down to 1 1/2 min.
Thanks again for all you're help.

Well, he said he waits 20 minutes before he does it, that's how he gets away with it. With all due respect I can't imagine why anyone would do it this way.
I've never had any trouble, and I close Trainz as soon as I am done. Taddaemon continues to work until it's finished. The only caveat is not to immediately shut down the computer.
