Eastland Rocket Progress

Just putting it out there you really dont see large rivers in the middle of a desert for a reason. If there any sort of rivers, they are shallow, narrow and mostly dry. Usually only flowing with flash floods.

No way you can't be serious. You're crazy Ed. That's not a monopoly board. Haven't you seen one before? That's just silly.

Don't be sorry. Everyone replying is just trying to help you become a better creator. If these fine members didn't care that you progress and do better, they probably wouldn't even bother posting. I've said this to you before, but try to work in smaller sections at a time and get the feel of working with smaller patches of scenery. Hone you skills a little at a time. I get the feeling that you're trying to build too large of a layout too quickly. I've worked on just one baseboard days at a time before moving on to the next one before.

Your desert appears absolutely flat and no part of the world is completely flat, even deserts. There are slopes and undulations. Also, I'm not sure what you're trying to show with your shanty town. You've laid out a grid of roads, but to what purpose. Think about how a lot of towns developed through the years. Many developed around the railroad. For example, the small town that I live in was originally just farmland until in the mid 1800's, the railroad ran a rail line from Nashville to Smyrna. In the process, they needed stations along the way where trains could be serviced and local goods could be collected for transit. My town was developed this way. The railroad built a station and purchased several hundred acres around the station. They then subdivided the land into tracts that they sold off and a town was developed. Roads were started around the station and eventually radiated out. Very few towns started out as you show with large expanses of land with a grid of roads. Roads are expensive to build and maintain and as a result, roads are built where use demands it and the type of road is primarily based upon it's traffic count and type of traffic involved. Do a little studying of what you're trying to depict. Begin with an era to start with. Are you trying to build a world based in 1850 or in 1950. These are two completely different worlds.

Just some friendly advice. Take it for what it's worth.

My one recommendation to you at this time, include some mountains/ grades/ passes, and also use dmdrake /'s western hemlocks or Douglas fir's, when I used TS 06 they were the best trees I had.

Why the curve? You're in a flat desert, so Desert tracks go straight to their destination, as they don't have mountains etc. to deal with and get around
