East Broad Top Closes

Off the Deep End
The East Broad Top, the last surviving narrow gauge line in the East has closed. The closing is due to the Kovalchick family (The owners ever since the line originally closed in 1956) being unable to continue providing funds for the line. Talks are going on with several groups including Friends of the East Broad Top to find someone who can run the line. However, there is some good news as the track, right of way, buildings and trains will still all be cared for and maintained, which is a sign that the closing will only be temporary.

So Long EBT. We will miss you.

The EBT as a company may be gone but the line and its infrastructure are on the US register of Historical Places so this line shouldn't be going anywhere.

Well, yes it will still be there, but you can no longer go and ride the train (in a business sense, it is closed)
