E-spec and numberit system

Hi all,

I've had this problem for a while now, and can't seem to find a solution. If there is one and I've missed it, forgive me. Here's the problem: a couple of locos in TS2009 to me don't sound correct. These engines all have numberit. I go into Content Creator Plus and change the engine spec, hornsound and enginesound to either updated versions or to those of other engines which I think will sound better. In a specific case, I'll use Jonny211's GWR 94xx Class. Before I make any changes I can give the loco a number and it shows up fine. But once I make any changes the numberit doesn't show in Trainz once I've committed the asset. Is there a way around this?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,

My guess is the ones you're playing with are all older build numbers, and when you open anything for edit in content creator from TRS2009 SP4 onward, it automatically updates it to build 2.9. That obsoletes many of the old tags and formats, sometimes generating error messages and sometimes automatically deleting tags it don't like. IIRC the earlier tag was something like "name-it", but whatever it was if CCP removes it the numbering no longer works.

So two options, if this is for your own personal use or a 3rd party website, edit in explorer and manually hack the config file so the build doesn't get updated. If you intend to upload to the DLS, try this;

Thanks sniper, I tired the first method and it worked a charm. I changes the e-spec, hornsound an enginesound to the one I wanted in the config in explorer and it worked fine. I can finally upgrade the locos I want to after years of wondering why it wouldn't work!
Many thanks,
