Driverless Rio Tinto ore train derails after collision

A driverless (autonomous) iron ore train several kilometres long has derailed in the Kimberly region of Western Australia. According to reports the driverless train had suffered a mechanical failure and was in the process of being recovered by a second train when the collision occurred. No one was injured in the collision but several railworkers nearby were "shaken up".

Last I knew Karratha is in the Pilbara not the Kimberly having worked in both areas of WA.

You are correct. It is in the Pilbara region. The previous derailment was in the Kimberly.
