Driver Commands

Im trying to run some passenger trains and they need to "turn around" after certain stops. I thought the "run around train" command was supposed to do that. It seems to try and work but sometimes it seems the AI doesnt understand it.

Last night i was at a station. The AI had the run around command. He unhooked and headed for the turntable, turned the turntable, and then proceeded to run right through it, through the bumper, and derail :(

So whats the way to make this happen? Ive got 4 passenger trains i want to set up to run continually and all of them have to turn around or they will run backwards.

He headed for the turntable, turned the turntable! He cant do that under the runaround command as it will have broken the command hence he kept driving. Runaround command is a single operation, uncouple, move foreward reverse via another track then foreward to other end of consist and couple. If you need it to do anything else you will have to do it with trackmarks.
Uncouple, drive to TM TT, Turn turntable, drive to TM, couple at trackmark (near the consist).

Im trying trackmarks now. The idiot wont back up far enough. I have the trackmark all the way to the end of the track and he stops way short. I would have to literally move some hills to make the track longer.

We need a "do as i do" driver command. Go through the motions, record it, and click "do it over" Maybe in the next version.

I watche the turntable turn and i didnt do it. I was kind of amazed myself. Thats until the bonehead drove accross it and went off into the woods!

I may have pushed "reverse direction" maybe thats what did it. ill have to test it and see.

Stagecoach is correct. Follow his instructions and it will work fine. The commands can be found in the DLS (Couplez, Uncouplez)

Best wishes,

There are two reasons for this first the trackmark radius is to big, reduce it with the advance tab selection. secondly the buffer acts as red and is stopping it.
Solution extend the track with invisible track and place the trackmark on this section, this allows the train to get nearer the end of the track and you wont have to move mountains. If its the buffer place an invisible signal a fraction after the buffer, this allows the buffer the to be on caution so allowing the train closer to it or even upto it.

Stage,

I went ahead and moved the mountain last night. Actually it turned out pretty good and it was my first time doing some actual ground and track work in Surveyor. The tools seem like they are pretty good in comparison to the ones i have used on other games.

For future reference i will use the invisible track. Thats a great pointer i didnt even think of.

Now the train is backing up all the way. For a precaution i put a trackmark on the entry and the exit of the WYE to make sure the train follows the correct path. It seems to be working.

Next is the one I have to move to the turntable and turn around. Ill let you know how that one goes.

Right now im installing SP1 and purchased a new video card with 512mb to improve my performance.
