Downtown Traction Co. TS12 session problem

Paul --

I see the purpose of this exercise to see if we can actually get you into multiplayer.

If we can there is something wrong in your original installation. If not then I'm not sure what the problem is.

I was not aware of your 100MB limit. You might want to consider something smaller. There is "IntenCity Multiplayer TS12" and "IntenCity Multiplayer TS12 Session 1" on the Download Station. I think that the download for these should be smaller. It's also a fun route.

Enjoy your break.

Phil

Edit - as an afterthought - after clearing out all the downloads in sandbox I'd be tempted to do a Extended Database Repair, just to make sure the installation is OK.

I think I'll be right

Hi Phill I agree with you about the purpose of what I'm doing. I think something got mixed up during the download of Downtown Traction Co.
The page differences that I noticed this morning were not there last night. I started the download in Content manager last night and went to bed. I got up this morning and had a look at content manager which as I said I had left running. That was when I noticed that there were dependencies and when I looked in more detail I noticed as Sniper did that the ones missing were in fact dependencies of dependencies... and part ones at that It was after I had downloaded those and then went into the main part of TS12 that I noticed that there was different things to what I was usually seeing.
I am thinking that something some sort of glitch in the download process has corrupted the database that TS12 uses on my computer.
That's why I'm thinking if it can be fixed by a reinstall then well and good.
I'm glad that I don't have any irreplaceable stuff though.
I don't think the 100MB limit is going to be a problem.
I didn't go close to it downloading Downtown Traction Co. and the session the first time.
I'm still playing it now anyway.
I'm enjoying it .
I'm not good enough to play in multiplayer mode and never had any intention of doing so, but I would like to fix whatever is the problem. and one way or another I will.
I appreciate the tips that you are giving me.

Can I ask you to try something else for me .... this is another piece of what I think is strange behaviour .... well I have not noticed it before today.... If I go to Content manager and click on an item that is still showing in the download window (the one on the top on the left hand side of the screen)... something that I have downloaded.... I get a windows error sound and a small (about 1 inch by 1 inch ) window opens with the word "Error" as a title and a red circle with a cross where there I would expect there to be some words about the error under that is an "OK" button that closes the window.
Does that happen on your installation?
I have not see that before today but perhaps I have never double clicked on anything in that window before. If you do not get that behaviour it is more confirmation that my setup is in some way corrupted.
Cheers,
Paul

"I'm not good enough to play in multiplayer mode" neither am I judging by last night. :hehe: It was fun, but I can see the need for a few things - 1, I should be familiar enough with the route that I don't have to constantly stop and spend 10 minutes searching the map for where I'm supposed to go, best to explore in single player mode for a couple hours. 2, time zones - playing with upside down guys who live in the future has it's own set of problems, it's 10:30 AM CDT as I type this, Auran HQ time zone it's 11:30 PM. My first actual multiplayer session started about 1:00 AM here, for Phil it was probably 2:00 PM (assuming he lives in the same time zone as Auran) so he's ready to rock and I need to hit the rack. So international multiplayer we need to work out some kind of schedule like 8PM Friday here in the central US would be 9PM in New York, 6PM in California, 9 AM Saturday in whatever time zone Auran is in, I'd have to look up the rest of Australia cuz I think youse guys have 4 time zones too. That would leave out England, since it would be 2 AM in London while all this is happening. Complicated.

Anyway, on the other topic, no, I haven't seen that one yet, but it's possible you're looking at something that's obsolete. That question mark thingy is nothing dangerous, merely foreign characters like Chinese 你的英語系統無法識別 or Russian что ваш английский система не распознает that your English language operating system doesn't recognize.

Obsolete stuff;

See one of them down arrow thingamys, click "View asset versions", select the ones with the DS icon instead of the down arrow and download the latest.

Should get something like that, the "sleep" icon indicates obsolete, that - whatever that is, laptop computer? - shows "local" as in installed now. When the download helper shows Idle, hit that Clear button before downloading the next set of assets, keeps it from getting all flummoxed trying to figure out what it needs to download and what it has already downloaded.
