Downloads from CM

Just a general question, I am new to Trainz and don't want to step on anyones toes.

I am working on a route and found some great things in CM to download for use on my route. If I download an item to use (but not modify) for my layout do I have to ask for permission from the author of an item before I can put my route on CM for others to enjoy?

You have no problem in using any item available from the DLS and all these items are automatically credited with any uploaded route
Freeware items from any other site again are not a problem though anyone downloading the route could have the difficulty of locating the items and the sites involved as many posts here on the forum will show
