Downloading Routes

I tried to download a couple of routes from inside the simulator but for some reason that I don't know the download get to 75% and then drops back to 50% and this repeats over and over again.

Could someone explain why this is happening, I would appreciate the help!

Thank You,
Frank Galka

Hi Frank, try downloading the routes from the Download Station instead and then import them as CPDs. I have a similar problem with a couple of the Murchison Routes that attempt to download every time I load Trainz - I have actually had the full downloads a couple of times, but they won't commit. They then try to reload themselves, which is very annoying.

There's an option to turn auto downloading DLC off.

If you were doing it inside the simulator then the bar was showing that it was also downloading the dependencies. Each time it would go up and reset you received a new asset that was with the route. Very normal action. It went to 75 % to show the route was downloaded then reset back to 50 % to show the action of the next asset being downloaded.

Nickel,

Before I try out the other options that Fran1 and Bob Cooper explained I have another question.

So if I wait long enough to download the route like your saying with each asset about how long does it take to download a route?

I will download a route again and just let it go until it finishes, but if it takes more then 20 minutes I will just cancel the download and give Fran1 and Bob Coopers options.

Thanks to all of you for giving me the help, I really appreciate it!

If the route has a lot of extra assests the download time could be long. I have downloaded a few large routes that take as much as 40 minutes with my comcast cable internet.

Do you have a FCT, whichever way you go it will take ages without one. If from a source other than the dls you don't need one.
If a route is 100 mb imagine how long it would take at 5 kbps (without a fct).

Try downloading the routes via Content Manager. You can find that as "Content" in the start-up window. That way you can see what he is going to download or at least what he is downloading instead of getting to guess what the in-game thing is doing.

Btw, know that you can download and play at the same time.

I did this once and noticed this as well. It's a lot faster and easier to control the downloading via Content Manager as you can see which items are downloading as well as how many you need to download. When you do this within the content interface in-game, there's no way to judge how long things are going to take.

If you don't have one already, I highly recommend a First Class Ticket (FCT). At $22 per year, thereabouts, it's worth its cost in gold.

I will give this a try tonight.

I tried dowloading a route last night but after 30 mins I canceled it, had to go some where, not to sure how big the route was.

Folks,

I started downloading a route tonight and I let it go for almost two hours and the blue progress banner went to 75% and it just stayed there so I canceled the download.

I also tried going into the "content" before starting the game and it does nothing. I click on the "content" button and the screen closes out and I am left at my desktop.

I also tried downloading from the "download station" by placing the route in my cart but when I click on the "download all" button nothing happens. Also next to the route in my cart to the right of the file it says "invalid"

The "invalid" might mean it's for a build above your version.
Have you got dx 9c installed. Trainz needs this whether you have dx10 or 11.
Have you got a FCT, speeds downloading up a lot.

Fran1,

I checked and I have dx 11 but I just downloaded dx 9c and installed it.

My download speed is great I have comcast cable and it is fast!!!

How do I find the right version for what ever route I am going to download?
