Downloaded layouts don't show up in Trainz

Sorry to post, but couldn't find this in any 'sticky's or 'faqs'...

I recently purchased Trainz Railway Simulator 2006 (I'm still not quite sure how this is different from any of the other Trainz programmes, as the product labels don't really make clear if they're upgrades of each other, or add-ons?), and wanted to try driving a London Underground train, so found the "Download Station", and -think- that I have downloaded the "assets" needed for this to run.

However, when I start Trainz, there's nothing different about the selection menu where you choose different trains/scenarios to run, so I'm not sure whether it's worked or not, or how to get at it.

I'm running all of this on Vista, and have 2 other (related?) issues where I get an error starting the "manage content" option which says "Unable to register Trainz URL registry key", and the "download helper" says I need to register my serial number (but this disappears after a minute or so and then permits me to download things - and when I go to Auran's website, it shows my registered serial number.)

Is this all a Vista issue, or if not, what do I need to do to get this working?

If you have downloaded a route that "does not show up" be warned that it will not show up in Driver, as it has no sessions set up to drive. You should be able to open it in Surveyor, place your rolling stock, save and them drive.

trs2006 w/o sp1 = map not found for railways trs2006 and later.
(loads trs2004 layouts ok, but then bitches about format of some content, but mostly runs it ok anyway)

oh and of course there's the commit thing. if its not listed in surveyer, its probably not commited and needs to be.

(well i didn't know either when i first started) there's also the severvice pack one thing, which i still haven't gotten "roundtuit". which fixes things like cmp not doing exactly everything exactly the way it says it does.

which doesn't bother me, i just down ftp the cdp's and not worry about it. but then i have to open cmp, and under files, import cdp's from where i have my system set to download everything to. then, in the open for edit tab in cmp, select all and >edit >commit.

Nobody talked about how to commit assets - and it's hard to find in the manual.

Has to be done in CMP - with the assets to be committed showing up in the main window of the CMP, select them, then left click. Hit Ctrl-M. Another way is to just launch Trainz from the CMP -- uncommitted items will be committed before Trainz opens.

You can set the CMP to automatically commit items downloaded from the DLS. You do this in the Miscellaneous tab of Settings in the File menu. Doesn't work with cdp files that you import from 3rd parties - there you have to do as above.
