Download to TS12 and not TANE

Get over it
I have TANE loaded and have been exploring my way around in it. I still play with TS12 so how do I download to TS12? Every time I download an item it goes to TANE. I think there's a little program for this but I can't find it. While on the subject of TANE how do you disable an item. I only use US items so I would like to disable all the foreign items. Thanks.

In order to resolve this problem, you can either download via Content Manager, or you can download it from the Download Station, but instead download via FTP. Downloading via FTP downloads the item as a .cdp file, like downloading third-party content. You can then install it and not having to worry about re-downloading it if you delete it or something else happens to it.

If you can manage it then it would be better to keep them apart. Tane on one drive and TS12 on another. That would help with download "direction".

In a conversation with John Citron a while ago we were considering the possibility of confusion with downloads relative to your question. I think you may have proved our theory with regard to both versions using the title "local" etc for the data storage. Since I separated the versions the problem has gone away.

Thanks guys. I'll use the FTP for TS12. Do you anything about my second question, disabling dependencies?

Hi Pop pop - Missed your second question. okay........

In Tane content manager - at the top - you will see "content" tab. About a third of the way down the drop down list you will find "disable". You have to highlight the item to disable first though or "disable" is greyed out. You will find "enable" is in the same place if you want to enable the item again. Works like a flip-flop switch.

Thanks Doug, I couldn't see the forest because of the trees. One more question. Where can I rename dependencies? For example: I would like to have a list of locomotives that starts with: Locos, rolling stock with:boxcar, tank car, bulkhead, etc. Thanks.

You can go into the config and change the text against USERNAME however, TANE will block you from saving the change with some built in items. Regards. Colin.

Shane Turner has a protocol changer which will allow switching between various Trainz versions that you may have installed.

Thanks John. Got it. Any thoughts on my question in post #6?

You need to edit the names in CM by opening up the asset for edit in Notepad, which will open up the config.txt file.

Submit of course after saving your changes...

Apologies for jumping on this thread BUT...
Is there a way to allocate star ratings in TANE as in TS12 to bring up favourites. In TS12 I was able to weed out all the items I do not use by downgrading to a lower star rating but not having to delete them.....Never know when they may be needed:o

Not been able to locate the answer using the forum search and I am just beginning to get my head around TANE C/M
Many thanks for any guidance .

No is the answer to that one as the feature isn't currently present in T:ANE.
