Having downloaded SP1 apparently OK when I tried to install it after it reached the half done stage (according to the green bar on the install patch screen)it made no further progress and the whole program seemed to freeze. Can any one help please

Welcome to the forums.

First bit of advice - leave it to do it's job. That is normal behaviour, and will complete eventually.

Ignore the progress bar it doesn't work properly, the patch can take up to 12 hours depending your PC's capabilty and can look like it isn't doing anything, best to leave it overnight and whatever you do don't cancel or you will probably have to reinstall from scratch, or just restore your backup and start again.

Watch Resource monitor if in any doubt and you should see the various trainz programs involved in patching are writing to disk.

Malc - I've found something interesting recently from WindWalkr that may interest you. Apparently if a TS12 patch is cancelled, it rolls back the files so that it can be re-patched (and I did confirm this using a manual patch and a testing version of TS12).

Many thanks for your help. SP1 installed eventually. It seem I was too impatient! Now when I try to create a new route I get an error message which sends an email to Auran and Trainz shuts down. The rest of the program seems to work normally. Any further comments would be appreciated.

Ahh that is at least good news, just wondering how long it would take to roll back something the size of SP1 though, I'm suspecting its not going to be instant!

Probably anything up to a few hours depending on how far it's got. I've confirmed the rollback facility with another of the TS12 patches as well (whilst looking for other patcher bugs).
