Do NOT Do What I Just Did.

While I was re downloading the West to Denver route, I was working on my new hump yard. Once the download finished the entire game locked up and I had to force quit. I got back in to the game and reverted the 10 minutes of work I had done then closed out the game again. Started it up again and ran a database rebuild only to that have that lock up a few seconds into it. Closed it out, restarted the game (verified the files via Steam) and re ran the DB rebuild. That worked; however, the prebuild command I run to precache the assets locks up after a few seconds. Tried restarts and rebuilds and prebuilds and no route will even start. It just sits on the roundhouse image and thinks for a while.

So I believe I have borked my working install. Due to my slow ass internet connection I am unwilling to do a fresh install.

So NEVER EVER install DLC routes while you are building. It will f it up.

Thankfully, I was able to run a EDR which was successful, and performed the prebuild command. Thus things are working again. Just remember if you download routes, don't edit something else until you have fully installed, run a EDR and finalize it with the prebuild command.

Thank you for the warning. Our impatience usually gets the best of us and also gets in the way of level heads.

After your EDR, you should view faulty assets. Edit the filter, save it too if you want, to show only faulty assets. The built-in filter will show not only faulty assets but also, faulty dependencies, and missing dependencies!

Don't panic when you see faulty assets. CTRL+A after selecting them, right-click and choose View errors and warnings. They should disappear. If you have any left over, you'll need to investigate those and redownload and install again. Sometimes, Content Manager doesn't update the display. Change the filter to something else and then check for faulty assets again. This will refresh the view.

Funny enough when this happened to me, I never found faulty assets. But definitely Trainz be tempermental so faulty assets can happen. Patience is a virtue that we all need to practice. In life and in Trainz.
