After finally getting this game to load I notice it's abit choppy. I have a Dell N7010 thats about 2yrs old. Do I need to update my graphix card for trainz 2012??? Chip is an HD Graphic Core i5. Computer has a Core i5-450M Dual-Core 2.4GHz 6GB ram 640GB hard drive in which 511GB are still free after loading Trainz 12.

I spy a graphics card issue - by any chance is that graphics card an Intel one?

P.s. You will need to register your version in order to access support, download patches, and use Trainz online features.

That Laptop should have an Intel GMA HD which although not wonderful is better than the previous stuff, possibly directX 9c required if it's Win7? Forget OpenGL with Intel.

Depends on the system. Integrated ones are part of the motherboard, but do sometimes have a slot or two available for a different one. Unless you know what you are doing, you may want to get a professional to do it.

It appears that laptop was available with an ATI HD4570 option, so at a guess it could be upgraded by someone who has the skills to dive inside laptops!

Edit:
Checked on Google, if it's possible no one is saying so, guess that options out then.

Could suggest maybe game booster might help a bit? http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

I tried running this on a family members desk top and I keep getting an error telling that the computer hardware and software are unable to communicate. I installed DirectX 9 and any updates for the video card. So why would I still be getting this error??

Launcher > Options > Display settings, change to the Native resolution of the Desktops display.
Also check that the same resolution is set in TrainzOptions.txt it seems to default to 1024 x 768 for some reason and causes problems if its different to that in the launcher options, you can actually delete those two lines TS12 works quite happily without them.
