I Read the blog, and judging from the responses, the guy can write some decent scripts. Over at X-Plane, we use scripts for all kinds of purposes and most of them work as advertised. Since this newbie can't get on the DLS at all, I'll give it shot and report back in a day or two.
I downloaded this, tried it out without success, but that was before I found out just now that since September, I have to buy FCT's to access the DLS being a user of TRS2006.
It does look a heckofalot simpler to use than CMP, though. That's about all I can say about it, unfortunately.

Unfortunately, if the DLS is acting up this still won't solve the problem (Trainz Downloader Pro, in case anyone reading doesn't know what program this thread is about). Over the past few days TDP either hangs up for long periods while checking for dependencies, or doesn't load the home page at all. This is the DLS's problem, though; normally TDP works well and has the additional advantage that it can be installed on an Internet-enabled PC other than the one you've installed Trainz on. I use it exclusively as I don't care to connect my Trainz PC to the internet and risk having years of work trashed by some vandal.
I run TRS2004, I now have no access to a "Free" dls, so I no longer download from the dls.
But when I did, owners of TRS2006 were always complaining about CMP (which 2004 didn't use) But we 2004 users had 'TrainzObjectz' & the old download helper which was far superior & never gave half the problems that CMP did.
Proof that the 'NEW' way of doing things, is not always the 'BEST' way
