DLS items wanted

Help please!

I'm trying to find:

1. Concrete/cement blocks to use as bases for various small buildings. Need to be around 2x3, 3x4, 3x5 meters, preferably with minimum 1 meter depth. I've downloaded several which I've found searching under "block", "foundation", "base" etc. However, there seems to be nothing in the size of concrete bases I need. They're either too big or too small.

2. Row of runner beans (scarlet runners) Or other type of climbing plant running up 2m A-frame poles. I'm sure I've seen these somewhere on a Screenshot.

I've searched DLS in English and several other languages (which has proved very fruitful for all sorts of other items), but no luck. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Search user name "emges". There are platform splines which may be of use to you. I have used them for similar applications. I had to open Trainz and find one I used to remember that exact name. The "cut" platforms have square ends instead of ramped ends.

Thanks ish6. I've downloaded your suggestion. The columns are more of a product than a permanent base for a building. Very nice though. I'm sure they will find a place on my route.
Motorbreath - the 2m "emges" platform spline is the one I've used. Thanks for that one! It's minimum length is around 40 feet because the spline points are set well inside each end, so its a bit long - but I can live with that. It's also good to have platform splines with solid ends.

p.s. No luck with my beans! Must be a bad year

No problem. Hope you get some beans.

Thanks AngelaH.
Tried, but no luck with "bush beans" either.
Now would seeds work? Maybe buried with height adjustment tool in Surveyor. I'm happy to wait until they come up in a couple of months!

Thanks everyone. Got there eventually.
Motorbreaths suggested "emges" platform spline has worked.
Concrete has set. Beans are planted - don't they grow fast!
I'm using imageshack for the first time today, so hopefully the results of my request are shown below as screenshots. Hope this works:confused:

Hi there,

Getting a new barebonr so when I set that up, and gmax, I think I can make the type of beans you are asking .... if you like, PM a screenshot, etc ... :hehe:

Welcome to the forum!!

Hi Ish.
Thanks for the offer. If I find suitable pix I'l mail them. Otherwise the low bush beans do look OK.
Thanks again.
Good luck with the new kit.

Concrete bases in the three sizes mentioned made yesterday for TRS2004, which I use, tested and uploaded today. KUIDS 275817:60050 (2x3x1 metres), 60051 (3x4x1 metres) and 60052 (3x5x1 metres.) I don't know when they will be available - I've had recent uploads waiting a long time or vanishing into outer space! - but when processed they will be found under Scenery/Dukes Denver Designs/Textured slab. I've used my concrete 04c but users may change this to one of their choice (I have some 50 concretes on the DLS and there must be many others; even a plain grey might be acceptable).
But this thread raises an important point: any building would need an individually sized base, and it would be impossible to cater for all needs on the DLS. However, this is without doubt the easiest asset to create using TACS/GMax (I have no experience - yet - of Blender) - a box of the required size, no underside, 10 polys, any suitable texture, 19.2Kb.
Some creators of buildings for TRAINZ include a below-surface base: this is quite normal in railway modelling and I only wish I had done it myself when I created some shops: they could then be used on sloping ground. Perhaps this could become the norm, althought not of course for a station building which is to be sited on a platform.

Hello Ray,

Apologies. I've only just read your post.:o I don't know how I missed it - probably too immersed in getting to grips with GMax.

Great to hear that you've created some smaller sized bases. Thank you. I've just searched the DLS and they are not there yet, but I'll certainly use them when they are available. Your kiud "latest" seem to be 16 January - nothing since, although some 12 Jan appear first in the list. I always thought it was most recent first.

Forgive me if this has been raised before, I still relatively new here, but has anyone made bases which are rotatable in the normal horizontal plane, and vertically. It works well with many other objects. If this is possible it would make the bases much more versatile in these smaller sizes, and presumably less memory hungry when grouped in some of the large towns in Surveyor.

Cheers
Casper:)

Hi Casper

Sorry for the non-appearance of these items - they were sent to the DLS as stated but rejected with the message "no valid asset found" - I don't know why. As you say, no assets of mine available since mid-January and it's not for want of trying. For example, most of my Paris Metro project items - track, tunnels, stations, accessories - were accepted but not the all-important rolling stock (submitted in the same uploading session) without which the rest make no sense and these were rejected for the same alleged reason although they work fine on my computer - this also happened with one of the five stations. See "Historic Paris Metro Project " in Freeware Announcements. Very few new items have appeared on the DLS recently so I will probably wait now before trying again, or perhaps try offering things elsewhere if that is possible.
To rotate objects vertically add the following to the config file:
rotate 1
rotate-yz-range -180,180
I've used these lines after "region" but I'm not sure if it matters where.

Best wishes, Ray

Hello Ray.

Thanks for the reply.

Lets hope the DLS get sorted soon. I know its an issue but I'm not really in a position to shout too loudly about it because my contribution to Auran hasn't exactly been generous. I bought my version of the game for a fiver when I replaced my PC just over a year ago. Best thing I ever bought, particulary in terms of pennies per hour - great value for money. I'll buy a FCT when the system has been sorted. Meanwhile I'm happy to wait for the slow speed. There's always loads to do in Surveyor, the Forum or screenshots. It must be very frustrating for you seasoned creators though.

Thank you for the lowdown on how to edit the config file for the rotation option. That's another great tip to add to my hard copy ring binder.

Cheers,

Casper:)
