DLS and Content Manager

Why aren't all the things from the online DLS on the Content Manager DLS? Plus, why does downloading something from the online DLS never work properly for me?

You need to give more details than that if anyone is going to be able to help you!

I've noticed, for example, that it will start to download, the progress bar will fill up, and then it will just sit there, not completing and the asset isn't in the game. Sometimes it will work if I clear it and try again later, so maybe the server was being overburdened when I first tried. Now that I have 2012, it seems to choke when assets are of build numbers that are no longer supported, though some do download but are not placeable.

But, again, without an explanation of what your specific problem is, it's impossible to help you.

I agree - there is a few possibilities here.

There is a delay of a day or two between the online Download Station and Content Manager though.

Well, when I download something of the online DLS via content manager then the thing I've downloaded doesn't appear in the game (nor in the installed list in CM). When I download something off the Content Manager DLS, it alway appears in the game (unless, of course, it has missing dependencies). However, not all the things that I won't to download are on the CM DLS e.g. Skipper1945's 'SR Light Pacific Battle of Britain class loco'. This means that I have to attemp downloading them form the online DLS which never works.

Like I said, when I download something of the online DLS via content manager then the thing I've downloaded doesn't appear in the game (nor in the installed list in CM). So it doesn't acctually install anything.

That would be one of two things:

1.The content you are trying to download is very new, which will not be available in Content Manager until 1-2 days after it appears on the DLS.
2.You are not running as administrator if using Windows Vista or later.

VaughanD. Sometimes when downloading content from the DLS, the items dont commit and are in edit mode... Happens about 1 in 4 for me... You will need to be in CM, select the open for edit tab, select all of the items and then right click -> commit... It will take a minute or two depending on PC and they should then disappear and reappear. If you have already tried this then apologies for the interruption

Cheers

All skipper1945's locos are on the DLS including the Battle of Britain Class and there is nothing over 2.9 so they should download in 2009, just checked the Battle of Britain class in 2009 Content Manager and it downloaded plus all dependencies.

Apologies if you are already aware of this but as Shane says you need to be running Trainz as Administrator as per the instructions on his tutorial site if you are running Vista or Win7 Home premium and installed in program files.
Note this is Run as Administrator and needs to be in addition to whatever account you are using even if it is the Administrator Account which in Win7 Home Premium and basic has effectively been crippled.
If it's not that then it probably needs an EDR, with 2009 it often needed doing more than once to sort it out, newer versions are a bit better in that respect.
