Distance from junction switch

”You can set the radius in Surveyor and it is saved from then on.

Select the junction lever where you want to change the radius. In the track menu go to the Right hand menu, click on Advanced. You will see three buttons. Left-hand is 'Get Radius', the centre is 'Set Radius' and the right-hand one is 'Adjust Radius'. Enter your chosen value in the text box and click 'Set Radius'. That's it. If you want to check it, click on 'Get Radius'.

This applies to switches, triggers and possibly buffers (bumpers).

It is in the TRS2006 instructions so it should be present in instructions for later versions.

HI to all. The above instructions show how to change the distance from a junction switch to a loco or RR car. I tried to change the distance but the number always goes back to the default number. I am running 2010 sp2.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong or there is something missing in the instructions!

Any and all help on this subject will be greatly appreciated.

It will only stay as long as you are placeing that item. Once you switch to a different item it will change back to the 20. Carl

Sounds like a layers issue to me.

Make sure you are editing the session layer when changing the switch radius.

I think perhaps you may be doing it wrong

Your switch must have a lever. In the Advanced dropdown, click the 'Set Radius', set the desired radius and then click on the switch lever.

With the 'Get radius' button clicked you can check your settings. I know this works in TS2010, I have just checked it, made the change, saved the route, opened it again and the changed values were still there.

DON'T do this in a session layer, your track and everything relating to it should be in either the route layer or a separate track layer. The only track that goes in the session layer should be anything you want changeable.

Glad you got it sorted.

Just to add there are instances where you may want to change the switch radius in the session only - for instance when you are making a session to upload for a built-in route. In this case, saving the switch radius to the session layer works fine too.
