Hi, seasons greetings.
I seem to remember that in Trainz 2006 you could create your own terrain.
How do you create a terrain displacement map for TS12 from O.S. maps using the elevation data from the map and convert it to grayscale image for use in
surveyor and where do you place the file in the TS12 folder

While you could make a custom displacement of your own, making a DEM or satellite image as a displacement map, would be difficult.

Why do you want to use displacement maps? There are more direct approaches, using dedicated tools which create the gnd file for you, HOG or TransDEM.

However, one of the very early tools, Mick Trist's Train Simulator Terra Former (TSTF) could create displacement maps for Trainz. You had to trace contour lines on O/S topo maps. I don't know whether TSTF still available somewhere.

Sorry but I'm going to be lazy. Search the forum for threads with Displacement in the title. This has been answered in detail many times. Or buy TrainzDEM in the Payware forum.
