Discord server

If you have never been on Discord (a chat type forum), make sure you use your Trainz forum name 'Willmw' for best results when you create your Discord account. You can use it web only or download the app. Maybe stay web based untill you get used to it.

Once in and after the initial bombardment of options, on the left is a folder view with the sections where you can ask and answer questions. IE. General Help, Sessions, Scripting, TCCP, Content Creation, Etc.

Click a folder and scroll to the bottom and ask a question in the edit box. You can also paste screen shots directly into the box and it will host them within Discord for you.
 
Beware of trolls. From my experience there's more trolls on Discord as a whole than the forum, so you're bound to run into a few of those characters while using Discord, especially on Trainz-related Discord servers that are not affiliated with N3V.
 
I was blocked on the discord server, and I have no idea why. I need someone to help me find out why I was blocked.

it's easy to use and very easy to keep up with friends on it. it's integrated into almost every platform and it's basically the gold standard now for chatting clients. the vast majority of features on it are completely free for anyone to use, like voice calling, integrated activities and streaming stuff to other people on call. people can also express themselves on it much more easily compared to most other social media platforms too. that's the reason why it's so popular.

it's definitely not perfect by any means, but it's really only an awful environment if the server you're in is heavily unmoderated or if you get caught up with the wrong type of people on it. but honestly i think that about goes for pretty much every type of social media service.

Are you talking about the official N3V Trainz Server or some other server? I'm a mod on the N3V Trainz Server and have seen no evidence of your claim. It's actually a faster way of getting information about Trainz than the Trainz forums.

It's true we see spammers and other behaviour that breaks the CoC but they are usually quickly dealt with.

I think they are popular due to the fact that there are no log files to record bad behavior. Once it scrolls off the screen then it is gone. This kind of unrecorded environment always attracts the absolute worse elements of humanity.

Server mods have access to log files and can see what was written and what was changed. I don't know how long the logs are retained but I can see back several weeks. There are also bots to filter out bad language, all caps and other (perceived) bad behaviour. The Trainz server is quite tame but obviously we do get some bad behaviour. The channels devoted to mobile versions of Trainz can get unruly.

I spend more time there than I used to in the Forums because its more interesting.
 
I'm glad that N3V and you are trying to moderate the server but I was speaking in general about discord servers. Most are not moderated and log files are not turned on.
