Disappearing Track - 111951

I loaded my route. A large length of track was missing. Finally started laying new track, While doing that the missing track appeared! A gift. Replaced the portal that was at the end of the missing section and found that the instructions for it were intact. The ghost of Auran. Installed the portal (instructions intact). Started the session and found a small section of the REPLACED track was gone. More mystical things. Replaced that. Tried the session and found that the portal had now disappeared. I may have to scan Google to see if there is a spiritual process I can use.

Up and running - for awhile.

PS: it works in 114800 but if any big problems arise I can't take any changed code directly into 111951. The safest thing is to play the game in the old Trainz version and its large list of problems.

The disappearing track was an issue with Build 111951. This issue also depended upon which track is used with some track performing and showing up better than others. I never had the issue, but that's because I used some older track and not some of the newer procedural varieties. When I did finally use the procedural kind, I found Trainboi's track worked not only rendered nicely, it looked nice as well.

I'm sure you are aware of the pitfalls of taking a route or other assets into a previous version. You might have gotten lucky this time, but that's not always going to happen.

Why replacing the portals kept the setups. I'm hedging on the possibility that the setup is kept in the session and that the "hardware" replacement with the same name allowed everything to mesh together. I have a feeling though, you just got lucky here. Replacing, renaming a track mark, or industry usually throws a monkey's backside into the works and screws up the AI completely.

I did upgrade my copy of TS19 to the latest. That went well. Full repair took time. I was waiting for an update but decided keeping two different versions active was a disaster waiting to happen. There were so many published problems that some of the fixes must have hit other elements in the program -some bad, some good.....

So, I am at 114800 now. It seems "smoother" than my other copy. May be due to data being on a SSD.

Still more to learn in both camps - customer & vendor.

Thanks.....
