Disappearing Portal

100240 I was using Quick Portal to create and time-table manage passenger and freight sessions. In an attempt to get a reasonable passenger load/unload I removed a JR industry track and installed a station that included track. I then when to the Quick Portal rule to run the session. The rule had disappeared. After reinstalling, and starting it, I then found that the portal it was using had also disappeared. I reported the problem with a strong note as to my displeasure.

As updates progress there is always one issue that you hope the new update solves, so you install it. Then something else crops up from the update. It seems to be an endless search for that one magical update that does not just fix a problem but also does not bring new issues with it. Because of the complexity, and the variety of features/functions of TRS19, that golden version remains a wish.

Some customers enjoy fixing problems. I admit that I am one of them. However after 30 years of messing with computers and software I decided to wean myself from fixing to using. I simply stopped learning the databases and functional logic of products and focused on using them while letting the repairs to others. So when I see that I have to fiddle a simple config to make something work I usually find a substitute that does work, without my intervention. Maybe the next update will be the one........

Program crashed. Restarted and a rebuild occurred. The portal and the old timetable reappeared.

This program was designed by Agatha Christie.
