Disabling Speedtrees

Hi everyone, does Anyone know how to disable speedtrees so they don't show up in the routes I download?

Thank You!

In CM rightklick on speedtrees and klick disable ?
That will still make them show up.

The only way to not make them show up is not download them and delete those you already have. Those that are built-in will stay; for those I hope the route has put them on a layer that you can make invisible (like on the Appalachian route).

Go into your bin folder, click plug ins, find speedtree.dll and delete it. Really reduces lag thanks to Kieran.

I wouldn't recommend removing them, but perhaps disabling the animation of them which can cause lag especially if you use a lot of them. WKWood rewrote a script, previously created by the user Otto, that will disable the animation of the trees which really isn't that necessary.

See the thread here:

and a link to his website here:

I also forgot to mention that there are many newer and better Speed Treez than those that are built into TS12. Check out those by mcguirel and RMM which are on the DLS, and those by Pofig which you need to download from his own website.

Please don't follow that advice. It is, as I later found out, wrong. Back in TS2010 it used to just replace the trees with regular ones, now it just removes them altogether making your routes almost completely bare.

John,

I've got the fix but don't know how to apply it to TS2010. Do you think you could perhaps throw some advice and knowledge my way? :)

Kieran.

Hi Kieran,

I'm not sure if it would work, but have you tried editing the script to point to the files that pertain to the TS2010 version? It means editing the batch in your favorite text editor such as Notepad, Notepad++, CE Edit, UUEdit, etc. Also run the batch as administrator since Windows locks that kind of thing down with command prompts these days.

This is a multi player issue then - never use it myself

As to normal operation I found that I have a lot more issues with the frame rates and normal trees than I do with speedtrees - I have found it often not tree that is the problem but the use of it. One tree repeated many times seems to be better on the sytem than using many diffrent types of trees.
They cause sever lag, dropping framerates to -0.50 FPS, and usually look abominabley horrid
Why would anyone want them ... You can poke your eye out with one of them pointy bwanch's

In CM rightklick on speedtrees and klick disable ?
I disable items ... but they still show up in the game ... I don't understand how a disabled item is still in game ?
Since you can't delete built-in assets ... how do you get rid of them, if disable doesn't work ?
Do you have to do a database repair in order that disabled items are not there ?
I even left a speedtree open for edit ... it just won't go away

So how can I get rid of each and every speedtree ?

These creations are absolutely the last thing I want to see in Trainz ... I want them gone from my game.

Even when disabled they still show up in surveyor

I figured out how to do it by making a "New Folder" in the bin/plugins file, and dropped the 3 SpeedTwee files into that "New Folder", so Trainz can't find them ( I can easily take them back out of the "New Folder" and put them back in place)
