what i have, on my machine, what i do, and it came about unintentionally, and before i got a hold of trainz, but i'm glad it did and i have every intention of keeping it that way, is my system setting for loging on to the net is a dummy one that goes to a log in account with my isp that doesn't exist.
the only way i can dial out to connect to the net, is to use the connection that exist ONLY in the manually dial out settings.
this way, NOTHING on my computer can automatically connect to the net without my telling it to.
of course the combination of this, and not having service pack one for my 2006 means that the only way i can download cdp's from the dls, or anywhere else, is by using fire fox's built in ftp.
which as i've stated before, is fine with me.
personally i just plain don't trust ANYthing, that will have my computer connecting to the net, without my telling it to.
cmp still trys of course, and gives me a big red flag boo hoo accross the bottem of its page that says it can't, and then still wastes cpu cycles trying to every time i open it untill i reboot, which i have to after every log in anyway since that seems to be the only way i can get disconnected from my isp.
